EDIT: I know im egging your paranoia on here but please tell me how poking holes in a upc will help Target LP track stolen blurays? Either the thief will rip out the disc and leave the package in the store or will just swipe the whole case with disc and either way poking holes in a upc will not help with anything, this is why Target has literally hundreds of cameras recording in their stores, hell they have a server room dedicated just to saving all of the recorded videos in the store.

Why are you still here? You argue when I post facts and truth. You act like I'm causing an issue when the stores are causing the problems and it is absolutely not acceptable.

grrrarg explained it perfectly.

Wow. My Target had all these cleared out last month through the normal scan return. We had some DVDs clearanced which were just replaced by the new barcodes with the WB logo on them. The only blu-ray that was clearanced was the combo pak for Hugo, which I managed to get the last copy for $8.98.

First off, what do you mean, why am i still here? Last time i checked you are not the boss of me or bluray.com. Second, where are your facts and truth? All it is your your paranoia versus everything else. The only one with a problem here is you.

I actually asked the manager one day and they didn't want to talk about it. They finally said it was for loss prevention purposes in case the item shows up in a pawn shop they can tell what store in the region it came from due to the specific digit they put the hole in.

I wrote a letter to corporate a couple years ago and got no response but the store seemed to stop for a while. Then they started doing it again but only on certain titles.

It is true and it is happening even if you don't believe it! Granted, the frequency has dropped off lately. I could take a picture of it in the store but you'd probably think I bought it, poked a hole in it and returned it and waited for them to restock it

I still think its incredibly bizarre that they are paying people to damage the merchandise.
What, seriously what? Do you think Target sits around trolling local pawn shops for a pin prick in a bluray case? I hate to tell you this but most pawn shops keep bluray's behind security cases, second how could Target even prove it was their bluray besides ones that are Target exclusives? They would literally have to buy every bluray in every pawn shop just to inspect for pin pricks in a bluray case. I can guarantee both of you that Target does not have the resources to troll local pawn shops or would even care to, this is again why they have hundreds of cameras in any given store and they invest heavily in watching the electronics section like a hawk.

EDIT: and yeah, i would never believe you even if you snapped a picture because you are right, anyone can poke some holes in something. I would need video of you catching them doing this. As a former Supervisor and Exec lead at Target, i can tell you they have never done this and i have worked in high theft stores, much worse then either you or shin could ever imagine and we never even did anything remotely like this. Target may be many things, including making themselves into a Walmart clone but they never EVER rig merchandise in this manner, at all. The worst thing they do is wrap high theft items in lock cases, spider wraps and and behind security glass. And i am defending them even though i think Target is the worst place anyone could ever work for.

I'm sorry, but Target's problems are well-documented.

Target won't be trolling pawn shops unless a theft had occurred in the first place. Then afterwards they would know the titles of the stolen merchandise and call up local pawn shops- that is went loss prevention is there for. Cameras can only do so much, but it can't guarantee the immediate capture of the thief before they unload the stolen products to unsuspecting pawn shops or individuals. Just having cameras is not enough and career thieves also find ways to avoid being seen and learn from previous attempts or heists. It is stupid of stores to damage merchandise just to help find stolen products after it has been stolen, but doesn't mean that it doesn't happen.

I have only seen one episode and it wasn't my cup of tea. But for $5 for a whole season on blu will make it a good blindbuy. If you really want to know what if you will like it, Hulu has the first few episodes online to watch for free. Then you can judge for yourself if you like it.

Season 1 is on Netflix, haven't checked to see if Season 2 is. Good sophmoric stupid fun. Fine way to waste a half hour at a time.

Cool thanks for the tip. And it's actually the first 2 season...not just one.

This is not well documented by any stretch of the imagination outside of these two guys, give me a break. And what does protecting your merchandise with spider wraps and lock cases have to do with them accusing Target of pin pricking bluray's?
