I'm disappointed that PT Anderson doesn't do more commentaries. It's a little weird since he is a huge commentary enthusiast and has said how much they helped him as an aspiring filmmaker.

I agree with this in a way. Tarantino is the same way. The Boogie Nights commentary was AWESOME.

Just watched it for the first time. I liked it, want to like it more. I'll have to watch it again, I'm slightly confused but I'm sure the more I watch it the more I'll understand and appreciate it.

Watched this blind-buy for the first time this evening, and this is the first P.T.Anderson film that I like.
Joaquin Phoenix gave an incredible performance, and the film is very interesting and even emotional. It's beautifully shot, but the transfer falls a bit short of perfect. I will definitely have to watch it some more times. Film: 4-4,5/5 PQ: 4,5/5 AQ: 4 |

Conversely, it's the least P.T. Anderson film I liked. I loved his other films!

I find it strange that when Boogie Nights came out on LD and DVD, PTA was very interested in including commentaries and extras but each film seems to have less and less behind the scenes material. I imagine PTA felt he over-explained Boogie Nights with its commentaries and other extras. I guess he's decided he'd rather let his movies speak for themselves now.

I just thought it was an overrated steaming pile of garbage that paled in comparison to There Will Be Blood.

Rented this and watched it yesterday, I was so impressed with the cinematography and scoring, but unfortunately had a hard time keeping up with it. I was also really impressed with the performances, and will have to revisit this film in the future. I am glad I finally saw it!
Next films to see in theaters: The Great Gatsby, After Earth, Disconnect, Elysium, The Lone Ranger, and The Wolverine
