Because human.

No human knows a disc is defective until it's tested. And even when tested, said human could miss the defect.

I guess there's no way to tell a disc is defective during the manufacturing process. My first copy of Gone With the Wind was defective. The replacement copy, which was identical to the first, was not defective. So it's on a case by case (or disc by disc) basis.

The french audio track from the DVD of Part III has many issues which the VHS release haven't. Missing translation or sound effect from the original track, double original and translated tracks or sync issues just to name a few.

Only a matter of time till this hits UHD!

Million dollar question is if they'll be new proper 4k remasters, or just the BD transfers upscaled to 4k ala Bourne trilogy.

I just bought a brand-new 50" 4K TV from Best Buy today and decided to watch the original film on a bigger screen for the first time... I'm used to watching home video releases on screens 25" or smaller. I was one of those guys on this forum always saying that the video on the BDs for this trilogy was "just fine, get over it". but watching these on a much bigger screen, I've now changed my tune. Universal Home Video needs Needs NEEDS to make UHD BD releases with new 4K scans of the trilogy... I'd even throw in a lossless isolated score track for each film as well for those who don't have the recent scores on CD from Intrada/Varese Sarabande.

BTTF 4K.... Come on, Universal, snap to it!!!!

Do you think they'll release them anytime soon, or wait for the 35th anniversary? Debating whether I should get the Blu-ray trilogy with the animated series.

I don't know, I;d say that depends on the fans and their pushing Universal for new 4K transfers of the trilogy. As for the your decision, I'd buy the animated series seperately, and wait for 4K.

I'd rather my tax dollars go toward giving every US citizen a copy of BTTF instead of that stupid wall.
