Thanks. I couldn't find that link. All of this came up at the time when I was an editor at TV.com and that blog caused a lot of gnashed teeth and moaning. Sorry, Ugly Pig, although it's not the only evidence, that blog post goes a long way toward explaining the chaotic ending of SGA. Nothing was "planned" (at least not by the creative talent), everything came down to ratings, DVD sales and a curious decision at the time by the SyFy channel to move away from space sci-fi, as part of an ongoing "rebranding effort" - changing its name from the Sci-Fi Channel to Syfy.

I used to watch many shows on that channel (and edit a few), now my "Sci-Fi" watch list is down to a show which marked a return to space: Defiance (which, unfortunately, wasn't on the recording log of my new DVR so I missed most of season 2 ). How far the mighty have fallen.

I'm... not sure why you're apologizing to me? As far as I can tell, you're not contradicting what I said, which is that the series was cancelled at a point in time when it was too late to change the season finale into a proper series finale. If there's a disagreement here, I'm not seeing it?

Not sure what people think of book continuations of book series but the Stargate Atlantis: Legacy Books are amazing. Book 7 just came out last month. The book series could be considered one take on how the 6th season of Stargate Atlantis would play out.

Book 1-6 deals Atlantis going back to the Pegasus Galaxy. Continuing the conflicts with the Wraith and very much expanding on their history. And learning of the origins and society. Including stuff such as Todd's real name. Which leads to a major conclusion with Wraith. Starting with book 7, dealing with Elizabeth and ascension. Along with the Pegasus Asgard and what they are scheming. We also learn more about the Travelers in this book. This of course end with a cliffhanger, with a 8th book forthcoming.

Needless to say, I personally thought the book series is a nice continuation to the series. I hope they do one for Stargate Universe.

Anyways, the book series have a limited printing available from the publisher's Amazon store and through some 3rd party sellers. Otherwise, the entire series is available for the Kindle for $4.99 per book. Or directly at their website: http://www.stargatenovels.com/

Stargate Atlantis: Homecoming (Stargate Atlantis: Legacy Book 1)
[Show spoiler]
Quote:
Homecoming Atlantis has returned to Earth. The team members have dispersed and are beginning new lives far from the dangers of the Pegasus galaxy. They think the adventure is over.

They're wrong.

With the help of General Jack O'Neill, Atlantis rises once more and the former members of the Atlantis expedition must decide whether to return with her to Pegasus or to remain safely on Earth in the new lives they enjoy...

Picking up where the show's final season ended, STARGATE ATLANTIS Homecoming is the first in the exciting new STARGATE ATLANTIS Legacy series. These all new adventures take the Atlantis team back to the Pegasus galaxy where a terrible new enemy has emerged, an enemy that threatens their lives, their friendships—and the future of Earth itself.

The first of a six book series set after the end of Stargate: Atlantis's final season, Homecoming sees Atlantis return to the Pegasus Galaxy. But the situation in Pegasus has changed. The Wraith are on the verge of unification under the new and powerful Queen Death. She stages a daring raid with one goal: the capture of the only man able to give their ships hyperdrive and lead them to Earth -- Dr. Rodney McKay.

Stargate Atlantis: The Lost (Stargate Atlantis: Legacy Book 2)

While Colonel Sheppard and Teyla seek information from Ladon Radim of the Genii – and pay a high price to secure his reluctant cooperation – Ronon and Doctor Keller reopen tense negotiations with their sometime-ally, Todd.

But as the balance of power begins to shift among the Wraith, Ronon and Keller struggle to ensure that they remain Todd’s allies and don't become his hostages.

Meanwhile, far away, McKay is facing a fate more terrifying than anyone on Atlantis could possibly imagine…

Stargate: Atlantis ‘The Lost’ is book two of the exciting new Stargate Atlantis Legacy series.

Stargate Atlantis: Allegiance (Stargate Atlantis Legacy Book 3)
[Show spoiler]
Quote:
Still reeling from the shocking discovery that their friend Rodney McKay is now a Wraith called Quicksilver loyally serving Queen Death and with no memory of his true identity, Sheppard and his team return to Atlantis to regroup.

They finds themselves facing a new danger and must face the fact that the unthinkable has happened- one of their own has been turned against them and is now working with the enemy...

Stargate Atlantis: The Furies (Stargate Atlantis Legacy Book 4)
[Show spoiler]
Quote:
When disaster strikes, the Atlantis team resort to desperate measures in their bid to save Doctor Rodney McKay from the clutches of Queen Death.

With the lives of McKay and Colonel Sheppard at stake, Teyla Emmagan must once again assume the role of Queen Steelflower as she attempts a dangerous subterfuge — a subterfuge made more complex by a tentative alliance with Guide, the Wraith once known as Todd. But in order to deceive Queen Death, Teyla must embrace her Wraith heritage more closely than she has ever done before. So closely that she may lose herself forever …

As the web of intrigue, deceit and betrayal grows ever more tangled, this thrilling installment of the Legacy series takes the team into the very heart of darkness.

Stargate Atlantis: Secrets (Stargate Atlantis Legacy Book 5)
[Show spoiler]
Quote:
Old secrets, new truths…

It is the aftermath of battle. Scattered and struggling to regroup, Colonel Sheppard’s team face their darkest days yet in the war against the Wraith Queen, Death.

Continuing her perilous masquerade as Queen Steelflower, Teyla Emmagan’s friendship with Guide grows stronger.

With his help she must journey into the Wraith’s distant past to uncover the shocking truth about their origin – and the key to Queen Death’s defeat.

Meanwhile, Rodney McKay has a different battle to fight as he struggles to regain his humanity in the face of the atrocity the Wraith have committed against him.

Stargate Atlantis: Inheritors (Stargate Atlantis Legacy Book 6)
[Show spoiler]
Quote:
End game

The battle lines are drawn. Queen Death is mustering her fleet. But who will stand against her?

As conflicts and betrayal threaten to shatter Atlantis’s fragile alliances with Guide’s Wraith and the Genii, humanity’s only hope of survival rests on the fate of an Ancient device — a weapon too terrible to use but too powerful to cast aside. A weapon capable of exterminating every Wraith in the galaxy, and with them every human carrying Wraith DNA…

With Queen Death’s fleet fast approaching, Colonel Sheppard and his team must make their final choice. In the sixth and concluding installment of the STARGATE ATLANTIS Legacy series, the future of Atlantis will be decided — and more than one of her crew will be called upon to sacrifice everything in the fight for her survival…

Stargate Atlantis: Unascended (Stargate Atlantis Legacy Book 7)
[Show spoiler]
Quote:
Lost and Found...

In the fragile peace following Queen Death’s defeat, Dr. Daniel Jackson arrives in Atlantis to indulge in some real archaeology. Naturally, things don’t go according to plan.

Convinced that an Ascended Elizabeth Weir saved his life, Dr. Rodney McKay argues that she must have escaped her replicator body in order to ascend. No one believes him, but when rumors reach Atlantis of a woman with no memory who calls herself ‘Elizabeth’, Rodney is determined to track her down.

Meanwhile, Daniel’s research uncovers evidence of Vanir activity in the Pegasus galaxy - evidence that casts both light and shadow over the mystery of Elizabeth...

Sorry (again ), I thought ... perhaps I misunderstood. The season finale, as it came to be, was not planned, per se, the writers scrambled when told to "wrap things up". That "death sentence" for the series was sugar-coated with the "plans" for a movie (which never happened) - and the pleas for a two-parter, as a proper way to finish, if not to bridge to another season, fell on deaf ears. They adapted as best they could with the time they had.

Man, this is such a good show. Never bothered to watch it when it was on - to be honest I don't even remember it being on tv. Started watching last week and I am hooked. So happy to have found this .

It was a really amazing show and it ended so badly with some awful episodes that last season. I believe it was Joseph Mallozzi who blamed fans of SGA for SGU's failure so I don't read his blog anymore.

Here's hoping the Stargate franchise gets another reboot. It deserves it.

Actually I believe Brad Wright blamed SG1 and SGA fans among other factors.

If I'm remembering the situation correctly, he didn't do anything other than call out the "fans" that ran http://www.sgusucks.com, a website created by bitter SGA/SG-1 fans and started before SGU even premiered.

We'll, there is this.

Saying that some fans went out of their way to hurt SGU - which unfortunately is 100% true, that happened - is very different from saying that SGA fans specifically and in general are to blame for SGU's cancellation, which no one has ever claimed.

Good. That website did exist, I remember it well... Be grateful you don't have to witness the senseless blind hate that went on in that shithole.
