Pretty much only Sony is willing to invest in 4K post production work. Oblivion was shot on the Sony CineAlta F65, but Universal refused to allow more budget for 4K production. Really huge waste. The Icelandic landscape would have looked gorgeous in a future 4K format. And I would have bought the 4K Blu-ray in a heartbeat, if there's a format like that in the future.

Do the 4k blu-rays show much difference then the regular blu-ray? I know it's supposed to be 4 times the resolution but I'm speaking on a standard 1080p tv.

It's not so much about seeing a large difference on a 1080p display. Rather, it's about having a new 4K master and DI for a potential 4K release in the future, that is, if a 4K format ever sees the light of day.

There is no such thing as a 4K Blu-ray currently.

Sony's 'Mastered in 4K' releases are still 1080p but from 4K masters, same applies to the films listed here.

It was primarily shot with the ARRIRAW, which is 2.8K. Unfortunately, Gravity got a 2K DI like most releases.

Sure. It had a 4K DI and Netflix will start streaming it in 4K later this year.

I'm assuming that yes, because otherwise Netflix would have streamed both seasons in 4K.
