I really enjoyed this. The action was limited, but the characters and dialog was good enough to carry you through that. I know it was over-stylized, but the
[Show spoiler]death of Markie Trattman was a terrific scene
. The audio during that scene was also great. Two big audio moments that stood out, aside from that scene, was the water dripping down in the alley at the entrance and exit of the card game. The other one was Jackie's shotgun going off...twice. Some of the scenes were soft, but all the other scenes were fine.

I agree, I like having the Blu and DVD in the set plus a digital copy. I also like bonus discs, free goodies, posters, t shirts, steelbooks, slip covers, free mini books inside It's usually why I buy day one to get the stuff that comes with most new movies or an exclusive somewhere.

In this case it was a Brad Pitt movie and I like Ray as well. But as I said earlier in the post blind buy but I really liked it.

HA Barnes and Noble, I know....do people really buy their blu-rays there? Other than the 50% Criterion sale.

Finally got around to watching Killing Them Softly tonight. Honestly, a movie like this is the reason I don't do "blind buys" anymore. I figured a gangster themed movie with Pitt, Gandolfini and Liotta would be a slam dunk, but I thought this was a pretty weak flick and I'm extremely happy I didn't buy it just figuring that it would be great.

Watching this movie right now, I gotta say, it is not a bad movie.

But where the movie seriously fails is in the dialog, the movie tries so freaking hard with the lines of the movie that it fails so bad....

Saw this movie the other night and really liked it.

Saw a lot of people disliking the movie because it's not what they expected (granted by the trailer I can see why), but this was awesome. Brad Pitt nails his character, he takes over every scene he is in this movie. Would like to see him do something like this some time in the future.

The dialog between characters was really good. Thought the parts between Pitt and Tony Soprano () and Rich Jenkins were the best. The action, while there not being as much as the trailer may have led to believe there would be, was well placed throughout the movie.

Going to be picking this up soon.

It's kinda like a slow burn movie? Is that why most people aren't enjoying it? Also, why are people assuming that it's a gangster movie? Nothing from the trailer made it seem like a gangster movie. I'm thinking of getting this movie because Brad Pitt is a good actor and I like slow burners.

I blind bought this recently and watched it on Monday. I really liked it. Good performances with some stylish flourishes. I guess you can say it's a slow-burn as it takes its time with scenes that aren't really important to the story. But it's only 90 minutes, so it's fairly short and to the point. I was concerned that it might be a bit too heavy handed with its political commentary, but I didn't mind. Still, it's not really a subtle movie by any means. It's the type of film which has a soundtrack of songs that basically describe what's going on in the movie.

As far as it being a gangster movie, some of the characters work for mobsters, but it doesn't really concern itself with the mob per se.

Well this is a very slow paced film I guess you can say, but never does it get dull or anything like that. But there also isn't ever really a twist or a major point in the film where you are on the edge of your seats, but it's great lol.

And I'll add that the last lines spoken in this film where godly!

Agreed. Pitt delivered that last line with powerful rhythm. I loved the ending.

Absolutely hated this movie. Besides the Ray liotta shoot out scene, everything else was dull to me. Paid $22 for me and my fiancé to see this in theaters and ended up falling asleep in it...TWICE! I could almost hit my friends fiancé for wanting to see this over Flight.

Too much political undertone too.

Just my 2 cents on the movie...I can appreciate fine cinema, an love some of the classics or niche titles, but this was, jeez, idk..

I'd suggest renting it first. I can definitely tell you like more experimental films like myself.

It's not a film made for the typical audience though. There's one scene in this movie that is really freaking suspenseful. Great performances from McNairy, Mendelsohn, and Pitt.
