Love your comment! I'm just discovering this film right now due to a search for Paz de la Huerta movies. Looking forward to this. It's on Netflix right now, but if it's as good as it sounds, going for blu-ray.

Are there English subtitles for the deleted scenes on the US Blu-ray? I have the French version and they are subbed, but in French only. I would consider double dipping on the US copy just for English subs to the deleted scenes.

Agreed. After watching the movie for a while, I actually felt a bit drunk, even though I was only drinking water.

Btw, epileptics, or anyone who could be visually triggered to seizures, need to stay far away from this movie.

It definitely is aspiring to be more than just entertainment, and I believe it succeeds in giving viewers a visual experience they've never had before. It may even inspire some new thoughts about life, death, and existence. Not too bad for a shiny plastic disc.

I watched the 161 minute cut, and I do wonder if there's a fantastic 110 minute movie in here, and 50 minutes of overkill. After the 50th or 60th shot of flying over buildings and seeing inside them, the rest could probably be trimmed. Still, someone's got to swing for the fences and try something truly different in terms of film. Enter the Void does that.

I can't find a dedicated thread in the blu-ray or movie section, so I figured I'd ask here.

Does anyone know what is going on with the US blu-ray release for Love? The release date was pushed back a few times and now it's showing unavailable at Amazon and has been removed from Best Buy's site.

The thread is in the 3D section: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=262163

Some members are suggesting it may be financial problems with the distributor. Here's a post with more specific info.

Thanks, wonka. I never check the 3D forum, so that slipped my mind. That sucks it has most likely been cancelled. Fans of Noe aren't having very good luck getting his movies here in the US.

I watched this last night on Netflix for the first time.

The visuals are pretty cool, but they become a tad monotonous after an hour or so.

The story itself...meh.

What I really came away with is the belief that Gaspar Noe must have suffered from some sort of severe mental and/or physical abuse as a child. Because both of the two films of his that I've seen contained some extremely disturbing sexual images.

The guy just has an ugly view of the world imo.

...I'm done with his work.
Criterions available for sale or trade...like new...free shipping:

The guy does have an ugly view of the world, but that's because he is a professional provocateur and art hours shock merchant who loves to goose the Cannes crowd to get into the headlines. The idea that just because someone produces disturbing imagery they must have suffered abuse is incredibly naive. Leave it to the psychologists please.

You're free to disagree with my belief if you so choose.

...but you're in no position to disprove it.

So he burden of proof for you making up crap is on me ? Noe has given plenty of interviews about his work and he certainly has never mentioned being inspired by having been an abused child. In the end your statement is simply offensive to victims of child abuse.

No I didn't say that.

Never said anything about a burden of proof being on anybody...only that you couldn't even if you wanted to.

I stated a belief, based on the disturbing pattern of f'd-up shite in this guy's body of work.

This is a guy who masturbated on camera in one of his own films.

You can call it artistic provocation if you prefer to think of it that way.

I call it the inner workings of a diseased mind.

Possibly the result of some sort of childhood trauma.

And yes...I have degrees in both Psychology and Parapsychology.

He really reminds me of one of those pretentious artists who thinks he's above everyone else just because he's different. Never liked Gaspar Noe, even Lars von Trier has more to say in his films, loved Melancholia, I don't have a proper opinion on Antichrist, and Nymphomaniac was a huge letdown. The only reason he cameos in Irreversible was to discredit accusations of homophobia, because that movie is seriously disgustingly homophobic. Love was basically pornography, what else can you call it? The actors had unstimulated sex, even Blue is the Warmest Color and The Handmaiden didn't feature the actors actually have sex.

I first saw Enter the Void about 5-6 years ago, and it remains possibly the most disturbing films I've ever seen. Very trippy & horrific. I may see it again at some point, but will definitely have to be in the right mood for this.

Ray, check out "I Stand Alone". It's a tender, heartwarming love story. Shows a completely different side of ol' Gaspar.
