Default Friday the 13th Collection

The Friday the 13th collection has been re-released. So anyone who missed out on that wonderful tin set from many years ago can now get the same movies in a basic boxset. This set however doesn't have Jason goes to Hell and Jason X (which the tin set did) as those movies are from Warner, but you get all the others including the Anaglyph 3D version of Part 3. (3D glasses are not included). And yes, it is region free!

The set is currently $25.99US (Around $33 AUS) at DeepDiscount and I think around a dollar or two more on Amazon. Great time to get the set as a lot of these films weren't released here.

Question........

Why doesn't Amazon UK remove VAT for those items which are sold by 3rd merchants, but are fulfilled by them ??

I note that EUREKA has a lot of titles sold via the UK site - as bestmediagroup

The response to my enquiry :

As this particular item is fulfilled by Amazon, you will need to contact them directly to enquire about anything regarding cost/VAT as we have no control over that.

and Amazon's response...

I'm Phani from Amazon VAT business team. (Indian Call Centre)

I understand that you're concerned about VAT charge on a order which you're willing to purchase.

Let me explain you regarding this, I've checked thoroughly your previous order which you've purchased and can see that all those orders were Sold and Fulfilled by Amazon (**** YOU DID WHAT ??? SORRY - THIS IS JUST PLAIN CRAP).

However, the item which was in your cart was sold by seller and fulfilled by Amazon. As you're buying item from seller inventory VAT will be applicable on the order.

In this case, Since Amazon isn't directly involved in the sale of merchandise between buyers and third-party sellers, we are unable to supply a VAT refund for this order. Please contact the seller to organise a refund.

You can contact the Seller on any Marketplace Order directly by clicking the Your Account link at the top of our site and then the Your Orders button. Click Contact Seller next to the relevant order.

All sellers on Amazon Marketplace agree that it is their responsibility to determine and declare any VAT charges that arise from the sale of goods and services by the seller to the buyer.

This has always pissed me off too. I think because they are a small re-sellers, or just everyday people they don't actually claim these sales on tax.

^^ I cancelled my preorder a week or two back. So it'll be a little while longer before I get to see it. Absolutely still gonna buy it though, within the next few months if all goes according to plan.

(been cancelling a few orders/preorders recently... constantly juggling my finances about at the moment lol. Have to really pick and choose what I pay day one prices for. Them's the breaks when working with quite a limited entertainment budget *sigh*)

If I had Admin rights, I would remove NZ from your username. Your top priority should be this film.

I know, I know lol it's certainly high priority. But it's also not going anywhere. Will be just as available in a few months as it is right now. Might even drop a bit in price too. If I'm lucky.

... can't leave it for too long though, pretty sure Arrow only do booklets with first pressings. And I want that booklet.

also: you can bet your life I ain't cancelling my preorder for Vigil. Not for any reason.

speaking of NZ movies on Blu-ray: just got up this morning and saw that AmazonGermany have knocked the digibook for Once Were Warriors down to €10.51

probably the best version available on Blu right now. Limited to 2500 units apparently. At that price, highly recommend it to anyone interested in getting the movie. Probably the cheapest this release is ever gonna be

MAY RELEASES
We have big news this month, with a pair of major catalogue releases in May; the first two titles on a brand new label!

Introducing 101 Films Black Label.

At 101 Films we're committed to seeking out cult and catalogue films and giving them the best releases possible. With the Black Label, we're curating a numbered series of dual format limited editions, complete with original artwork and newly-commissioned extras. The Black Label is dedicated to fully doing justice to the very best cult and classic films from some of cinema’s most renowned directors, and unearthing hidden gems in luxury packages for the first time. The first 3,000 copies of each title will come complete with a slipcase, and Limited Edition booklet.

The first releases on the label are '90s classics; Stephen Frears' The Grifters (1990) and David Cronenberg's eXistenZ (1999).

Pre-order from the 101 Films Store to guarantee getting your hands on these limited edition releases. They're priced at £15 each, but you can pick up both for £25!

The Grifters (1990)
Released 21st May 2018.

From director Stephen Frears (Dangerous Liaisons) and producer Martin Scorsese, comes The Grifters, a taut thriller in which seduction and betrayal could lead to murder.

Adapted for the screen by Donald E. Westlake, from a novel by Jim Thompson, The Grifters features a stellar cast, including Anjelica Huston (Crimes and Misdemeanors), John Cusack (Grosse Pointe Blank), and Annette Bening (American Beauty).

When small-time cheat Roy Dillon (Cusack) winds up in hospital following an unsuccessful scam, it sets up a confrontation between his estranged mother Lilly (Huston) and alluring girlfriend Myra (Bening). Both Lilly and Myra are con artists playing the game in a league far above Roy, and always looking for their next victim. As Roy finds himself caught in a complicated web of passion and mistrust, the question is who’s conning who?

Brand New Extras:

Seduction. Betrayal. Murder: The Making of The Grifters: A brand new feature length documentary on the film’s production, including new interviews with director Stephen Frears, cinematographer Oliver Stapleton, editor Mick Audsley, executive producer Barbara De Fina and co-producer Peggy Rajski.
Limited edition booklet: Includes ‘Jim Thompson, Noir, and the Popular Front’, an essay on the American author’s societal influences by David Cochran, and ‘Elmer Bernstein: Grit not Grift’, a review of the legendary composer’s career by Charlie Brigden.
Pre-order now

eXistenZ (1999)

Visionary director David Cronenberg (Videodrome) challenges the boundaries of reality in sci-fi thriller eXistenZ, starring Jennifer Jason Leigh (Annihilation), Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley), and a stellar supporting cast including Ian Holm (Alien), Willem Dafoe (Platoon), Christopher Eccleston (28 Days Later) and Sarah Polley (Splice).

During a closed-door demonstration of her new virtual reality video game, brilliant game designer Allegra Geller (Leigh) survives an attempt on her life by a crazed assassin. On the run with Ted Pikul (Law), a young marketing trainee who falls into the role of bodyguard, Allegra convinces Ted to join her in her game, eXistenZ. As the line between fantasy and reality begins to blur, the real-life dangers they sought to escape start to merge with their virtual world.
