Is the UK release identical to the US?....http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Ex...9652/#Overview It's says Region B, but I though all Warner Blu's were region free?

It's cheaper, and has the original poster art. Not a fan of the stairs cover on the US.

Yes, should be identical.

Finally received the 1997 dvd today, and it does open with a Saul Bass logo, but as I had suspected, not the correct logo that was originally before the film. I had feared this was the case, as the logo had been replaced as far back as the digital full frame laserdisc, I still haven't checked the original laserdisc release. Many people remember the standard Bass logo opening the film in early cable showings, but in the theater and CBS' original airing this was the logo that opened the film-

Maybe they changed the Warner logo for the 1979 reissue?
BD: £1.50: Warriors of Heaven and Earth (Sony, ZA); Wolf (Sony, ZA); £3: The Third Man (Studio Canal, CA (bilingual), Region-A); £4: Mad Max (MGM, Region-A); £5: Hang 'em High (MGM, USA); U.S. Marshals (Warner, USA); £7.50: My Son John (Olive, USA, Region-A).

Yeah, good catch. I had to go back and watch my original VHS copy to see the difference. Anyway, besides that, how are you liking the colors of this disc? The exorcism plays out so much creepier with the natural color timing. It makes it look like it's a real exorcism being filmed, like a documentary. The blue color they did later I didn't care for, but I least they toned it down a bit for the blu-ray.

WB kept that logo at on THE HERETIC Blu-ray. (Too bad they used a terrible master though.)

Yep, they sure did didn't they. The logo is the correct logo but it looks like they used some 3rd generation print or something. There's no way it came off the negative or an IP.

If Exorcist: The Heretic had a pristine HD transfer, it would still be a bad movie. You can't polish a turd, which is probably why Warner Brothers didn't want to invest anymore money into it.

I understand that but regardless of your's or my personal opinion of it, the film barely passes for HD and that's only in a handful of scenes. The majority of the film looks like an upscaled DVD.

Yes, you are right, I really prefer the color timing of this disc. So if I pull the logo from Exorcist 2 & the audio from the full frame side, I could create the best SD edition...

I wondered if it made it to blu-ray, I knew it was on the dvd, but figured it was chopped off & replaced like almost all new WB releases. Thanks for answering my question before I even asked.
