Hi all. I am currently patiently awaiting my SB16 Ultra, and can't wait to give this baby a try! I ordered it from a Canadian supplier a couple of weeks ago, and they "claim" it should be here by the end of the week. I sure hope so, as I lied when I said I am "patiently" awaiting. I am not that patient at all. Anyway, I have read all the reviews I could find on the Ultra series, and it seems that all agree, these subs are awesome! I will hopefully posting here with my impressions on it next weekend.
Dale.

I have 2 pb - 13's and 2 pc 20 - 39's in my HT. All corner loaded, Ive always been curious to hear how they'll sound if I change the position. Maybe midwall? I always see pics of other home theaters with the subs next to the front towers and I always loved that look, I understand that that not might be the best positioning for mine since every room is different but I'm gonna try it out. Wish me luck lol

I have a Martin Logan abyss that just bit the dust. Amp is dead. So, I am looking at SVS. My theater room is tiny, and the sub placement is literally about 3" from my seating position. I had my sub right next to me. IF I go with an SVS, I was thinking to have it pointed at my seat on my right side. My room is very narrow thought.. about 8 1/2ft wide only. However it opens up towards the back to about 11ft. My seating position is about halfway still in the narrow area. It is kind of an L shape room. But as long as I get even bass response at my near field position, I'm ok. Everywhere I look ppl seem to recommend two subs. But I do not have much room for two. So i was thinking a single PB2000 or SB2000 firing right to my chair. Is this overkill? Any other suggestions? I use my system 90% for movies and tv. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not only do I love the way my new set up looks but it sounds better than when the subs were corner loaded. Like DangerRuss said, more of an even sound.

I was just looking at the PC series. If i went that route, I would need to place it on my side wall right next to my seating position. The port would need to face out. I would not want the port right against a brick wall. Which also means that in that placement wiring/amp would be visible. I know the PC 12 plus is top ported.. but, I think that sub might be overkill for this small narrow room. Also a bit concern with the PC 2000 hitting my carpet since it has no baseplate.

I decided that for the space I have the pb 2000 would be the best fit. I have one coming to me in a few days.

Default suggestions please :)

Hey everyone.
So, I was at the bank the other day (first time in a long time) and they said I was qualified for one of their cash back reward cards. A bonus $150 back if you spend $500 within the first 3 months. I figured well, Now might be the time to take advantage of that reward to finally get to the last piece of my HT upgrade. So once again I figured I would get some advice from my friends here who many of you have helped me in the past already. I am driving myself crazy going back and fourth researching and browsing posts here and AVS and reviews everywhere trying to find out what route I should go. anyways sorry to be so longwinded.

You can see in my sig the equipment I have.
Choices I was looking at were.
SVS PB or SB-1000 I go back and fourth.
SVS SB or PB-2000 (possibly since the cash back reward deal) but do not know if it would be over kill.
another alternative I could get is SB12 NSD I can get locally for $449 as well.

Other info. I listen at normal levels I guess. So not usually house shaking ref. levels. 100% blu-ray & streaming (netflix tv movies etc.)
Living room dimensions are roughly 12' x 20' with an 8' ceiling.

So would the 1000 series be ok in my situation? any other thoughts or ideas welcomed. thanks!

Go to SVS web site and do support chat. With that size of room it almost cries for a dual set up. See what they recommend and let us know. A dual PB1000 would be better than a single PB2000. That is a lot of volume for a single sub to fill in. Even worse if the room is open to rest of home on one side.

I have the SB-1000 in my roughly 1500cft living room with a 8ft wide opening in the back and the sub is plenty for me. Great for music and movies. If you count the 8ft opening in the back then I have about 2300 cft. I have had no problem problem shaking the walls with that sub. For such a small sub it really puts out.

Very helpful! I have about the same opening in the back as well. Thanks for your input!

May still run it by the SVS support chat as ImPulSive suggested too.

Default Update!

Ok Thanks again mdanderson and ImPulSive for your suggestions and input.

I did indeed have a nice lengthy online chat with one of the SVS support agents. went through the whole room dimensions etc. I actually had to go measure the kitchen length since I only accounted for the opening. Went through the use case and equipment etc. etc. He told me the PB1000 or PB2000 Would be a great match for my needs and equipment. He suggested the PB-2000 as It would equal to 2 PB-1000's and cheaper then buying 2 of them also it would be easier to grow with if I decided on a second later on. It would also have the benefit of going lower in response. Since It was one I was considering but was worried about it being over powering I was unsure. He said It wouldn't. He was very helpful in answering any questions I had.

So yes I decided to go with his suggestion and went and ordered a PB-2000 along with the soundpath isolation system since I don't think this will fit on my small subdude pad I have. Super excited and can't wait to add the final puzzle piece to my 2 year now long upgrade.

Congrats. I'm sure you will be happy with the PB-2000, but once you have heard a dual or quad sub setup, you will be buying another one. The only reason why I recommended a dual PB-1000 over a single PB-1000/2000 is that it would better fill out the bass response in the room, you do not go dual or quad for loudness, just better uniformity of the low end. The additional sub(s) can fill in where a single sub cannot reach.

I have two PB-2000 in my home theater plus dual Def Tech SuperCube-2000 subs up front. Room is 12 x 21 x 8ft ceiling, but open to remainder of the basement area. A royal PITA to dial in, but so worth it. I also have dual SB-2000 for my family room config of 14x19x12ft ceiling plus a 14ft wide opening to rest of house. Single sub was not cutting it. There I chose the SB-2000 because I prefer the tighter bass note of a sealed sub for music, in addition to movies. Never had the room for the bigger units like the SB-13 Ultra. Although I'd love to try the new PB-16 Ultra, but I am afraid of what it would do the rest of my house, might need new windows and drywall.

Good luck with it.
