The Ghostbusters earned their Stripes and to relax decided to go play golf, but got locked in the Caddyshack by the Gopher with The Blues Brothers who are hiding from a Dragnet but luckily they all escaped to The Great Outdoors, where they met a ranger who turned out to be The Man Who Knew Too Little because everything he said was Lost In Translation.

Blade Runner, obviously. Then in no particular order, Forbidden Planet, Guardians of The Galaxy, The Terminator and Trancers.

Default Top Five

The Thing - 1951
It Came from Outer Space - 1953
Invasion of the Body Snatchers - 1956
Forbidden Planet - 1956
2001: A Space Odyssey - 1968

I could keep going, but that would be more than five.

Science Fiction is my favorite genre, and this is an almost impossible question to answer. My list would likely vary by the day, but here's what I'm feeling right now (in no particular order):

Jurassic Park
The Terminator
Brazil
Alien
2001: A Space Odyssey

The Empire Strikes Back is one of my all-time favorite films, and would be on this list if I didn't consider Star Wars to be firmly in the realm of fantasy.

Terminator 2
Blade Runner
Solaris - either version
Back to the Future part 2
Star Trek First Contact

I would put The Thing on a top 5 horror list and Fury Road in its own post apocalypse category probably. Pretty hard list to come up with since a lot could be action or horror...

The way it was shot, edited, directed, paced, it's musical score. Regardless of how you feel about the story and or performances, technically speaking it is of the highest calibre.
