The Carlotta edition looks better to me and certainly sounds better. Not a huge improvement picture wise, but it is noticeable.

People complain about TT and its business model, but that's one thing I'll give them. The compression on TT releases are generally solid and don't have all the issues that you see with other labels (Kino, Criterion, etc).
Wanted:
Criterion: 'The Third Man' Digipak (do NOT need discs or booklets)
Studio Canal Collection Nordic Edition slipcovers for digibook releases

Actually there have been some pretty solid Australian releases that have actually been just as good, or better, than the international counterparts. Umbrella are usually pretty good with the titles they put out, as are Cinema Cult. If we had the market for it in this country, they could become like Arrow, Scream Factory or even Criterion.

Cinema Cult? Please. They released an SD upscale Blu-ray of Flesh for Frankenstein. Their Blood for Dracula was okay but not spectacular.

I'll have to defer judgement here because I import all my movies instead of buying local. It started with DVD as a reaction to the ratings logos but the downgrade in local packaging really just becomes symbolic of the overall lack of care put into local releases. At their best our releases seem to be good overseas transfers dumped to disc and at their worst old DVD transfers with more room to breath on blu ray. The local releases I own are:

BLOOD FOR DRACULA
BODY DOUBLE
DEAD RINGERS
ROMPER STOMPER

Three of these are 1080i and ROMPER STOMPER is also censored.

I found a copy of the TT release on eBay today "Like New" for $40. I'm happy with that price, seeing how this goes for typically much higher, the shitty BD-R version is almost $30, and I am not region free.

Don't buy that. Just import the upcoming UK release. It will be region free (even if you're not). Currently only 12.99 + P&P (and they'll also take the VAT off that at checkout).

That's OK. My OCD is large enough to not want foreign ratings labels and BD cases. The TT version was $30 while it was in print, I'm totally OK with $40 OOP. Thanks though!

Ignoring how insane that is, Indicator said they will use reversible covers like Arrow, so no ratings logos on the flipside.

I still don't understand that side of movie collectors.

Me? I just want the best overall package in terms of price, package, PQ and the film actually playing in my player. I'm not going to pay 10 bucks for one version just because it doesn't have as many logo's on the package.

The Indicator Body Double just got its first review on DVDCOMPARE.NET, and the news is good.

I can't buy a Blu without a giant rating on the sleeve.

In fact, I'd prefer it if they skipped the cover art altogether and just typed the title in Courier New, 12 pt and the rest was a supersized BBFC certificate (front and back, natch).

That's my OCD talking.

I'm baffled by the slipcover obsession. I don't keep any, because it looks so much better uniform throughout. Also, gatefold and special packaging? No thank you.

But in the end, to each their own, right?

I'll make my own if I need to. For example, the version of Noah I have is the Best Buy steelbook, with the region free 3D disc (that happens to be in all English with no foreign print or logos on the disc) and the Target bonus disc.

I have actually struggled with this for years. I want the best versions of each release on the one hand but I also want a clean-looking collection (from a distance) on the other. I have not found a solution.

Top of my B.D. wishlist: "Blues Brothers (Universal 100th Anniversary,)" "Count of Monte Cristo," "Devil's Advocate (Unrated Director's Cut)" and "Ginger Snaps."

Solution is to stop caring. Unless you have to count every movie you own before removing one from the shelf then it's not OCD, it's just anal collector stuff. Just breathe slowly and move through it.

I'm baffled at why people are baffled about what people like.
