So, I just got a blu ray copy of Fast Times in the mail, the Universal 100th Anniversary edition. It had the iTunes code inside, which expired on 12/12/31. On a whim, I went to Vudu.com/redeem, and put the code in. I hadn't called Universal, or e-mailed them. I just put the code in, and Vudu too it. So, I have the digital copy, too.

Gold star to Universal!

HDX or SD?
Some old Universal codes like this used to redeem in VUDU but would do so in SD.

I find Universal generally keeps their codes valid. I've gotten quite a few old codes that still worked from them.

Old thread I know...

Just watched this blu for the 2nd time, once was a few years ago and now tonight. I thought it had great picture quality. There was some grain, not that that is a bad thing, and there was great color. Definitely in my top 5 80's films.

I too, watched this in the last week.

There were scenes that had a lot of grain it seemed, but a few that were as clear as a 2016 new release. Weird.

Still love this movie no matter how it looks.

I think there are some movies that you just know will not look great on BR. Fast Times is one of those films. As entertaining as it is, it's really dated in how it looks.

I don't know if I've seen the scenes from the TV version. The movie I've always seen feels as if it's shorter than it should be. Perhaps these scenes added in would help.

Most definitely. There are surely some films that will never look good, but that pool is much smaller than people make it out to be. Movies that were made on a lesser budget than Fast Times have looked great on Blu-ray when treated right. There's a lot of movies on BD that simply have been put out using old masters and/or going overboard with DNR, sharpening, edge enhancement, etc.

You could swap the title with 90% of universal discs

Those scenes have some of the best character development in the film, and incredibly ended up on the cutting room floor. It's no wonder Crowe has always wanted them restored.

I would love for this movie to eventually get a full and extended edition BR. According to Cameron Crowe’s website there are nearly 15 minutes of additional scenes that were cut from home versions or simply reshot: (http://www.theuncool.com/films/fast-...es-tv-version/). Also, from what's floated around the web here is an additional list of scenes that were filmed but have been omitted from all (or some) versions:

Mike Damone's nude scene with Stacy that was filmed and never used was stated by director Amy Heckerling to show the natural vulnerability between two young teenagers. The intent was to show each of them undressing, and then show them standing before each other fully naked, full frontal, vulnerable, and nervous. The scene was pulled due to an impending X-rating.

The scene where Linda instructs Stacy how to give a blowjob originally took place in a hot tub with both girls naked. This was changed to avoid getting an X rating.

An improvised scene at a record store where Damone tells Spicoli where to find some music was filmed but never used.

Hallie Todd, back when she was known as Hallie Eckstein, had a bit part in the movie as a fellow mall employee who asks Linda for advice how to have oral sex without getting pregnant. This scene was cut from the final version, but shows up on the original network broadcast and some cable TV airings.

A filmed but cut scene of Stacy having an abortion done. It showed Stacey actually getting the abortion. After a negative test screening the scene was cut.

A new release would be nice. New scan, deleted scenes included, option for the original mono. One can dream right?

I appreciate the extra nudity scenes, but I feel like the abortion scene would be unnecessary.
