Very true. Bought a 'Like New' condition from the 2-disc set DVD for $3 (shipping included). With the one disc front edition cover I made my own 3-disc set (Blu-ray, DVD 1, DVD 2).

Beware of ordering from Bestbuy.com. A friend ordered the two disc edition and received the one disc version. He had the correct SKU ordered. He returned to his local BB for refund. Also, in-store they have the shelf tag showing two disc edition but it is the one disc.

Raising this thread from the dead...

Blind-bought this and the sequel yesterday, watched the first one. I have no real knowledge of GI Joe at all (aside from random Family Guy references lol), so coming at this strictly from a mindless summer CG-fest, I thought it was decent. Sommers knows how to keep movies like this fun and irreverent while delivering on the action, and the cast is good. Could've maybe been 10 minutes shorter (the opening scene is completely useless) and the plot is incredibly stupid, but for a two-hour timekill, I thought it was OK. That Paris chase alone was worth it for me. Also didn't realize how many cameos/famous people are in this, like Levitt and Fraser (the twist regarding the former caught me off-guard). Wayans and Tatum have good chemistry, and are funny. Miller and Nichols... no complaints there, either

Will probably watch Retaliation tonight, was lucky enough to stumble across the Target 3D exclusive for $10, along with the two-disc Rise of Cobra for $5, both with slipcovers. Figured $15 for the pair isn't bad. Most reviews I've skimmed seem to say the sequel is better, but my cousin who's kind of a GI Joe guy says Retaliation is pure excrement, so I'm looking forward to it lol

I own both movies, and have only seen them once, a couple of years ago. I did pull them from my shelf and put them in my soon to be watched pile. From what I remember, they were ok for action movies. I do think the one with the Rock in it is better than the first one. Enjoy the second one, and let me know what you think. I'll check back in after I watch them again.

I forgot about this. I was never interested in the first one, but I was tempted by Retaliation (with Rock). Two questions: 5/5 rating? I think this was back when there was less to compare with and BRDC was more lenient with ratings, what do you guys think?

Although, that's only 2013, not that long ago, which raises another issue: the cover says "Digital Copy", which usually means "on a disc/XML". However the site's page says UV and iTunes, and XML didn't come in UV. Anyone know if this actually came with a good on VUDU paper code sheet? The site says expired but many codes are still good way past their expiration date. Thanks for any info.
You can only have too much ammo if you're on fire or swimming.

Dunno how the A/V on Retaliation are but I thought Rise of Cobra looked and sounded great. Was upscaled on my UHD setup and I didn't notice anything untoward that jumped out at me, other than saturation/contrast maybe running a little hot, but I figured that was an aesthetic choice.

I got these for like $4 each at a local shop and enjoyed them for that price. The second one was much better IMO, a more charismatic group of characters and more grounded action. The first one is too cartoony for moi.

Id say Rise of Cobra feels more like the cartoon and Retaliation more like the comic, but Im biased as I loved the comic as a kid. Id also say Retaliation is far better but not without issues of its own. At least Retaliation had no Marlon Wayans and very little of Tatum, and the Rock is pretty decent in it.

The first movie definitely feels more like a cartoon, that's for sure.

Big Sommers fan, the first movie is great fun and the Paris scene is one of my favourite action scenes. The sequel sucks completely although the 3D is fantastic and the mountain scene is awesome.
"Still in all, every night we does the tell, so that we 'member who we was and where we came from... but most of all we 'members the man that finded us, him that came the salvage. And we lights the city, not just for him, but for all of them that are still out there. 'Cause we knows there come a night, when they sees the distant light, and they'll be comin' home."

Same here, loved the first one but the second one was meh. That mountain sequence in 3D was amazing though. I remember seeing a special preview of that in theaters and I was completely blown away. At he time I thought the sequel was gonna be great. Oh well, at least it has that mountain fight, Elodie Yung and Adrianne Palicki.

Still would like a third one though but please no crossover with the Transformers franchise...
