I have 70+ Digital Copies, I do like having them because they are great for when I travel and such. However I don't think they could ever replace my actual Blu-Ray's. I'd much rather sit on my couch and watch a Blu-Ray on my 40" Tv then on my laptop or Ipod. There is a vast diffrence in PQ and AQ in my opinion. Personally I don't think DC's could ever replace BD's, there just a nice little bonus for me.

Several things killed blu ray for me.

1) Space - They take up too much room
2) Loading Speeds/Forced Adverts/DRM/Incompatible Disc/Player Authoring
3) Region Coding
4) Cost

I am now happy with AppleTV / Roku for movies in HD. its an inferior quality no argument 4gig files vs 40gig files but I cant see me going back to physical media unless it has a special feature(s) I am really interested in.

60 ITunes
46 Flixster/Ultraviolet/VuDu
13 universal ultraviolet

Since getting Apple TV and the VuDu 360 app, I've really come around on digital copies! Won't replace my blu rays, but definitely replaces my portable DVD player for a mobile option. The ITunes HD copies and HDX are really nice substitues too in case I loan the blu ray out to someone

One question through: none of my universal ultraviolet a link to any of my other ultraviolet accounts, I've been contacting universal and ultraviolet customer service with no luck. Anyone else have this issue?

Is your universal account linked to your ultraviolet account.

iTunes - 33
Ultraviolet - 44 (half or more of these were "free" through various programs)
MP4 - 192

If I'm buying a DC I prefer iTunes...

This is one HUGE disadvantage that Apple/iTunes has right now compared to UV, with the other being that UV can be played on almost anything while iTunes is still tied to a significantly smaller number of devices.

If iTunes had some form of D2D or was UV compatible I would be ecstatic

Itunes 70 Movies.

I've just recently been interested in getting Digital Copies. I've decided to go all iTunes since I've got Apple TV's, Macs and iPads. I was pretty disappointed to realize my wife cant use any of my movies/tv shows without activating my iTunes log in on her Mac which means she wont be able to use her own account for music. Other than that, I'm pleased with it all.

I do plan to buy Action or "big" movies on Blu-ray only, mainly for the audio. The lossless tracks sound much better in my home theater. The digital copy would be great for on the go watching but in that case I'll always watch the Blu-ray while at home. As far as comedies go I'm okay with Apple TV's audio quality. If/when Apple TV and movies support HD audio may be when I decide to lay off the Blu-rays.

The best experience of every film I've ever loved has been the theater. For a while, I chased the notion of trying to replicate the theater experience in the home and ultimately, it's not worth chasing.

Yes, ticket prices have gotten out of hand but I still prefer going to theater, experience a great or masterpiece film with an audience.

In the home, it's just about reliving favorite moments from films. I don't need supreme quality for that.

I also think that large collections, at least physically, are unattainable. Eventually, they swallow a collector whole. You could never, ever rewatch a film collection the size of say 800 to 1000 movies for the simple fact that there will be more newer films to come out every year.

I'd rather see those and spend my money that way than to rewatch a 1000 plus library of films that I may or may not like even though I purchased said BD for the quality of it and the tech of it only, which I know a lot of people do. Hell, I use to do it until I got smart.

Personally, I don't think 250 digital copies is a good thing. Again, how often do we really, truly go back to that amount of movies in a given year?
You make some valid points. I do care about quality but I too don't bother trying to chase the theatre experience inside the home. I like watching movies, new movies, I don't really care about watching them over and over again. One time is usually enough.

What is great about iTunes is that it rentals which are easy and great.

I own one digital online movie. I do rent a lot of hd movies on Apple TV.
The names...Chuff...
