I got it on Zavvi for $28. It's about $42 if you order it from Amazon. I just sold my purple crushed velvet set, so this was a no brainer.

If you haven't already sent it off and you're a Digital user -- the Velvet DVD set will allow you to convert the discs to a Digital copy for a small fee for I think 13 or 14 of them through the Home Vudu Disc to Digital program. The BD will not allow conversion to Digital copy at least through the home program.

Might be worth checking the Digital Forum thread if you're interested.

If you do it I think if you use the bonus disc it will allow you to choose all the movies one at a time without having to insert each individual disc. You still pay for each of the movies you want, but it does simplify the process a bit.

There is one movie on there twice and I think one is missing -- it's been a few months since I converted a lot of my discs. It's esp nice if you have some free VUDU credits to use.

That would be helpful. I'm going to try and do it tonight before I send it out.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 2012 and 2016 versions are? All I could find is that the 2016 version is three minutes longer and region free, assuming Amazon's description is to be trusted.

Just wanted to post this here for Hitchcock fans. Tonight. ( Aug. 8) HBO has a brand new hour and a half documentary of the Hitchcock and Truffaut story ( the interviews Truffaut did with Hitchcock in 1966). It's called: " Hitchcock/Truffaut." Really interesting stuff. It really covers well most of Hitch's movies. Also talks about the nice friendship between Hitchcock and Truffaut during Hitchcock's later life. Really great insights for true Hitchcock or just film history fans. As several interviews with big Hitch fans and directors such as Martin Scorsesee and Wes Anderson.

Good stuff. Would love to see them out it on about Blu. If you missed it tonight aim sure it will be re-run for a while on HBO or you can watch it anytime if you have HBO Go.

I watched Saboteur for the first time ever tonight. It was alright, but far below his later work IMO. Dialog was well written but the plot was downright stupid half the time and it has that stilted acting style right out of the theater that I dislike about a lot of early movies. Loved that early fire scene though, that was a great effect that really shocked me.

Yeah, Saboteur's not great and is just a primer for Hitchcock's later, better spy movies. Watch Shadow of a Doubt next. Nothing like Saboteur, real early masterpiece.

Wow really? I love that period of Hitchcock. The 40's were great with classics like Lifeboat, Foreign Correspondent, Spellbound, Notorious and Rope. I know it's not the popular view but I think that's when Hitch did some of his best work!
That there is one damn fine coat you're wearing.

4K UHD - The Experts Agree, Occasionally it's a little better!

Wanted: Monolith Monsters (DE) FT: Necromancy (Code Red), NOTLD (Umbrella LE), Hammer Horror 17 Disc Collection!!

I prefer 50s Hitch but you're right about so many of his classics coming out in that decade. Notorious is one of his very best, and I've always felt Rope was pretty underrated. Spellbound's a bit stupid but very fun. And obviously Rebecca's brilliant.

Agreed. Notorious is his finest hour, imho. I think the more experimental he got, the more admirable he got, a la Vertigo, Psycho, & The Birds, but up till about Rear Window (54?) he was really firing on all cylinders.

I didn't really disparage that era of Hitch, so not sure why you said this. Notorious is a big favorite of mine and Foreign Correspondant was pretty good. I just didn't like this one too much. I saw Rope and Spellbound forever ago but don't remember them enough to comment. Don't think I ever saw Lifeboat.

That's because it's perfection doesn't need to be stated. We all know it's one of the best movies ever made.
