For $8 per month, Netflix streaming is a tremendous value. I mainly use it for tv shows, which are pretty good quality. The PS3 is by far the best streaming player and never has issues.

I mean, for $8, you shouldn't expect BD quality. But it is a terrific deal for such a large amount of content.

If someone grabs one of these early on and you happen to test out the HDD playback for mkv files, could you post some results. The '11 line boasted playback but it was limited to relatively low bitrates. I'm hoping they improve on that in '12 . . . thanks!

will be my third Panny bd player, and I have loved the reliability of my two previous players.
Imo Panasonic is without a doubt the best value in bd players, while providing first class performance.

Does anyone know whether the 7.1 surround information is streamed through both HDMI and OPTICAL ports?

Panasonic Technical Support could not answer me that question with any degree of certainty.

My question is not regaring quality of output; rather it is whether the 7.1 information is available on the Optical port at all.

I'd appreciate any help.

No - the 7.1 track won't bitstream via optical. In fact, you can't deliver high definition lossless audio tracks at all over optical (including DTS HD MA and Dolby TrueHD) - you'll only get the 1.5MB core 5.1 or 6.1 tracks.

You'll need to use HDMI for HD audio.

Just returned my "buggy" LG BD690 for the Panasonic BDT220. So far so good. During set up it didn't find my 5ghz network. Does anyone know if the 210 or 310 are 5ghz capable??.....I picked up the 220 for 116.00 with taxes. It's on sale for 129.99 and I had 20.00 in reward certificates....

Yes. The DMP-BD210 is dual band. During easy setup it drives you to 5Ghz (mine defaulted to 5Ghz in every setup), you can manually override if you prefer and select 2.4 (& it gives an option of double x 2.4);again, the unit displays a banner recommending the 5Ghz band whenever possible.

Thanks. If the 210 is then the 310 has to be.....I may return the 220 for the 310. My local best buy only has the 310....
