In other other news, David D. has said that they're returning to Vancouver for the new series. I know some people felt series 5-9 had a different feel because of the new location, but thumbs up for consistency. I have hopes for this new series.

Also, I reread through a lot of this thread and you guys have introduced me to Twin Peaks. Just blind bought the Blu-ray. I only hope X-Files gets the same treatment soon, preferably with 7.1 audio too!

Thanks! I really enjoy doing them and like everyone else I look forward to Lava_Lander's screenshots with each new airing.

Since this thread has slowed down, I thought I would post this New York Times post in which Duchovny thought Mulder was the worst FBI agent ever..
I thought compared to other representation of agents up to that point they did okay, they probably give the Bureau some great PR. Although he did lose a prisoner in his charge by falling asleep! Comparing our dynamic duo to the agents in The Following puts them in a more favourable light, Kevin Bacon and his gang are atrocious. I'm surprised they're even allowed any affiliation to the real thing!

It lost a little something by moving South, great news it's going back home. I am slightly worried about the FBI angle, they've changed so much since the show originally aired, it was all rental cars and cheap motels before. Now it's huge SUVs and designer fashion (at least in the movies and TV shows), I don't think it will come off as charming as it was before. You can see the change in I Want to Believe. I think I prefer the old-school FBI!

It wasn't leaving Vancouver that was the problem necessarily, it was going to LA and looking like every other TV show ever made suddenly. Ruined a lot of the unique feel X-Files had.

Of course now a ton of shows are shot in Vancouver, so... yeah.

Heads up, it's April Fool's tomorrow, so I'm sure we'll be seeing a load of phoney baloney X-Files Blu-ray news. Trust no one.

David Duchovny on the Late Show with David Letterman on CBS tonight (in just a little while actually for those in the Eastern Time Zone of the US). Perhaps they will discuss the X-Files reboot.

I think David is the only quest to get bumped by Letterman on 2 continents. He was bumped in the US and when Lettermen did a run in the UK a few years back. If there's exotic-animals on before him he'll be bumped!

Actually, it was seasons 6-9. Season 5 was the last season of The X-Files shot in Vancouver. The finale was titled 'The End' and season 6's premiere titled 'The Beginning'. I think it was a reference to the move to L.A.

I love how the Lone Gunman newspaper article about Saddam starts with actual text about Saddam... and then from the 2nd paragraph continues with Mulder's biography

I know that Pro Sieben has better picture quality than ElRay, but I wonder how much the BluRay release (when it comes out) will be different and better than this HDTV broadcast.

Also, it all makes sense since the new announcements - they'll release all X-Files seasons at once as an "ultimate collection", when they finish the new episodes. That's why this is still on TV.
