More to the point Fox have pretty much said they want people to move to the app, so letting Shout release them on DVD would ruin the whole point. Like Penguin said pages ago, this is a push by the studio to move you toward digital, just like the 2 weeks early digital releases.

Exactly... this isn't about people not buying DVDs... it's about FOX not wanting you to buy them. IF they were willing to still sell DVDs, they would do it themselves and not farm it out. They know there's a market for them... they just, apparently, don't want that market to exist.
Me am not on Blu-ray forum.

Hopefully Fox will realize what an idiotic choice this was and change their minds at some point.

Maybe if they didn't sell this for $40, I've been waiting for it to get to $25 but I have yet to see it anywhere.

But what will make them come around? The poster just below you already made a point to say they won't buy these releases at $40, and unfortunately, studios like to see the early sales numbers. The 'i bought it for dirt cheap months later' crowd doesn't factor in much.

They can get guaranteed ad revenue from the streams... And lots of it. Having a resource to view any episode of The Simpsons on a plethora of devices is pretty fantastic, and people are going to lap it up. It's free, provided you have a cable subscription.

Catalog releases aren't top sellers for studios. The new, major motion blockbusters are. From a business perspective, what they're doing is pretty smart, and a fraction of a percentage of potential customers whining online won't change their mind.

Speaking of Simpsons World, I haven't been on it since it launched. Have they fixed the horrible commercial break timing issues that were plaguing many of the episodes? (Going to a commercial in the middle of a joke)

This is a rough year for us, first the announcement of no more DVDs, and now we're losing Harry Shearer:

What next?
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

Oh man, that's a major blow. Really hope he comes around for the series finale, whenever the neck that will be.

If there's a nuclear war, all that will be left is cockroaches and new Simpsons episodes.

In better news, the first 19 seasons are now available in their original aspect ratio AND 16:9 on FXNow.

I tried to watch a season 18 episode last night. The fullscreen presentation is not available in the Apple TV app (yet, fingers crossed they update that FXX app). I tried to watch it on my iPad and they windowboxed it! Ipad's are fullscreen, so you have to watch the episodes shrunk into a tiny box that you can't enlarge. They are also "SD" and are interlaced. It's a step in the right direction, but a far cry from the quality that would have been on a Blu-Ray release.

Doesn't really do any good if FXNow isn't available through your provider. It would have helped soften the blow of no more blu-ray if I could go on and watch whatever episode, but now the only way I can catch seasons 18 + is to catch them when they're on FXX.

I haven't paid a cent for these and will not in the future either if not getting proper Blu-ray's. Not paying anything for digital distribution.
