I would say that phenomena is not a very accessible movie. I got into Argento about 8 years ago and Phenomena was one of the last that I got around to watching. I tried to watch it a few times just couldn't get into it. Once these blurays were annouced a few years ago I made an effort to sit down and watch the whole thing and I found that after the first act I really began to enjoy it. So much so that I now rank it as my 2nd favorite Argento behind suspria. the ending is completely brilliant and my love for anything Donald Pleasence has only grown.

Every time I see this thread get bumped I get all excited that we will finally get a release date.

Nothing is about what any single one person needs or wants... Obviously. We disagree and I need you to point out why we disagree? Because we are different people? Thanks. MY OPINION (happy now?) is that giving us the Creepers cut is a waste of time and money. It's horribly put together and doesn't represent what Dario Argento (WHO MADE THE FILM) wanted. Like I said, you can get Creepers for five dollars on DVD, but it looks as if the tiny percentage of people who want this cut are getting it anyway.

Tedious work that will certainly be ignored when nominations for the Rondos come out next year.

No release date set at this time, but we hope to have it out by year's end.

Sounds good. I appreciated all that sound editing they did with Demons, now they're tackling a harder project: the Phenomena integral cut. If I recall, the Arrow BD did sound pretty janky at times because they just had to keep looping music and possibly sound effects too.

But man, I hope there will be at least two discs with there being three different encodes.

Agreed. Probably put 'Creepers' on the second disc.

I'd think the two longer cuts should at least be on separate discs. Maybe disc 1 have the 110-minute cut plus extras, disc 2 have the alternate cuts.

Seamless branching for the second disc and both BD50s?

I'm glad Region A of these two movies are arriving through Synapse and not Scream Factory.
Wonder if any extras or anything will be left off of these? More as an excuse to still buy the Arrow UK releases still. I'm not too bothered. Great to have multiple options for Giallo on Blu-ray available, I always say.

I can't see seamless branching working for the integral cut, too much possibility there for things to go awry. QC nightmare, too many hours to log when some edits last only a few seconds, and with the extensive music editing Synapse are going through, I don't see it even being seamless.

I'm assuming there'll just be three encodes. I've never seen Creepers but perhaps that could be seamlessly branched off the 110-minute version without complications and the integral cut could fill out its own disc plus whatever else.

Good point. When I was typing up my response, I added the a bit about the integral and international cuts being with seamless branching, unless it would be difficult to do so. I backspaced it out and went with the above reply. I just though it'd be a matter of inserting the extra footage.

No release date news for Tenebre but Synapse did tweet out that they are getting closer to setting one.

Also, Calum Waddell tweeted that Tenebre will have a documentary on giallos that was done by High Rising that was screened at the Stiges Festival in 2014. I would assume that's the only place it's been shown so far.

There was a question about English inserts on Synapse's Facebook page. Was this ever answered?
