Yeah Cant agree more. It looks exceptionally well. I remember when I watched it on Blu for the first time and was blown away.

I found this trilogy set for $19 at a used store today, so I pulled the trigger. I had been meaning to buy stand-alone Blu-rays of the first two movies, but just never got around to it, and the price was right for the whole set. It's in perfect condition, other than a small tear/bend on the clear plastic in the inner case cover.

The Godfather movies, or the first two at least, were always inevitable additions to my collection, but it was just a matter of when I would get around to buying them for a decent price. I'm looking forward to spending a weekend marveling at these transfers.

That's a great find, and the restorations will blow you away. I am beginning a Godfather marathon this week myself.

This has probably been mentioned in the thread before, but the Viva Elite 4-Disc Blu-ray Case is what houses The Godfather discs in the set.

I ordered a replacement Viva Elite 4-disc to replace my scuffed case for this when I bought The Godfather set at a used store last week, and it looks great now.

I thought about passing this by, but the scuff tear on my old case triggered my OCD tendencies every time I looked at it, and the Viva Elite replacement cases are cheap. A scuffed and torn plastic case is a shoddy way to treat such a masterpiece.

I watched The Godfather on Blu-ray last night and will be watching the other two tonight and tomorrow night.

The Godfather looks absolutely splendid in high definition. I am so glad that the original grain of the film has been preserved, because it is integral to the experience. The shadows and darkness in key scenes come across brilliantly, and the Sicily countryside sequences are just unbelievable.

I was not expecting anything less, of course, but I am still surprised at how much I love the final result. I've seen this movie a million times in previous formats, but this Blu-ray takes the first movie to a new level altogether.

I really need to get this back into my collection. I gave away my Godfather Trilogy away in November of last year and have made plans ever since to pick it up again but haven't done it yet.

I cannot recommend these films enough, especially the first two.

Because of the massive acclaim, The Godfather trilogy is probably dismissed by some as being too weighty or too intricate, but I find that the films are well-paced and fly by in a way that belies their running times. There is not a single wasted second in the first two films.

The third film is less essential, but it does bring the storyline to a thoughtful closure that resembles a Greek tragedy. I look forward to seeing how the third film looks on Blu-ray when I get to it tomorrow night.

I listened to the Godfather Pt. III commentary yesterday. I'm glad Coppola went into some detail about production difficulties (short production schedule, Duvall dropping out, Ryder dropping out), even though he spent way too much time defending his decision to cast his daughter.

Unfortunately I never saw the first two movies looked on Blu-ray before giving them as a gift to my friend's uncle who LOVED the movies as well.

The only one that I got to see was the third one which as you mentioned was not the best but it was still memorable in the sense that it gave closure to an incredible franchise. At least that is my opinion anyway.

I agree though that Part 1 & 2 are absolute masterpieces, especially The Godfather Part 2 which is honestly the best one in the trilogy IMO.

Something that really struck me the 1st time I saw these on Blu was the eye detail. You can really see the wheels turning in a way you never could on the previous super murky home video releases. It also makes me further appreciate the incredible performances Coppola got out of that talented cast. Check out Brando and Duvall when Hagen tells Vito about Sonny. Wow. Previously you couldn't tell quite as much about the emotion Brando was registering because the shadow detail was limited.

I just finished watching The Godfather: Part II on Blu-ray. As with the first film, the high definition presentation goes above and beyond any previous viewing experience that I've had for this movie. This one has an expanded color palette compared to the first film, but the darkness and shadows still figure prominently into the fold. All of these aspects of the film are beautifully brought to life on Blu-ray.

A great many fans prefer this second movie, and, although my own preference is still for the first film with its encapsulating closure, I believe that The Godfather: Part II succeeds in a way that few sequels can ever hope to match.

I watched The Godfather: Part III last night. It's a beautiful Blu-ray as far as picture quality is concerned.

I also believe that it is an unfairly maligned film in the public consciousness. The Godfather: Part III obviously does not measure up to the first two films, but, then again, very few movies do. As is, Francis Ford Coppola considers this to be an epilogue to the story, and I like that line of thought. I do not revisit The Godfather: Part III nearly as often as I revisit the first two, and it's been a good decade or so since I've seen the movie. It's still a worthwhile entry in every way, though.

People give Sofia Coppola a hard time about this movie, but I thought that she was quite good for the purposes of the role.

Overall, the Blu-ray box set of The Godfather Trilogy is one of the most worthwhile Blu-ray purchases for any collection. If you are on the fence about owning this, then get off of the fence immediately.
