Hear, hear. When this was first announced I swear it was announced as a 3D Blu, and they've gone the whole Avatar route. They are by all means allowed to do that - it's just as long as they have the information out there for consumers to decide.

I'm holding out on this for a 3D version, because I know for a fact it was shown in 3D in Japanese cinemas.

I don't mind the double dip. The triple dip, or the quadruple dip. Just let me know you're doing it, Sony!

Yeah, Sony needs to get this out there with a release date at least. No sign of it anywhere for now. Hopefully the 3D delivers.

Looks like they might be holding back the BD3D until the movie leaves Japanese theaters. I don't expect to hear any news for at least 2-3 months.

3D Blu Ray comes out on January 10th in Japan with three packages. On and that box set only contains the latter film in 3D as far as I know, so don't get excited thinking they have made the first 3D.

I hope we get a 3D blu ray of this soon. I see it in stores for 15 bucks for blu ray 2D, but won't buy it until a few years pass and there's still no 3D blu ray.

Looks like it costs about $85 to import the Japanese release. I hope they announce a U.S. version soon too.

Thanks for the info. I heard on this forum elsewhere that the 3D was mild to medium range; Good 3D.

That's weird, I didn't think either of these movies were made 3D. I own both US releases individually, shame we are missing out on 3D movies I didn't even know were converted. I really like these two too.

Resident evil Damnation was shown in Japan cinemas in 3D.
According to one review on amazon there's some really amazing headshots including one where Leon shoves a crowbar through somebody's skull, a table being flipped over and a cup of tea flying at you, a water jug being kicked in your face, and the tongue of a licker jumping out at you.

There's also a negative review by a guy who doesn't like 3d
mentioning:

"The first thing I was really annoyed by in this movie is it doesn't go 5 minutes without having a lame scene that was obviously put in just for the benefit of people watching in 3D. Objects are thrown right at the screen and the whole movie slows down. Even when watching in 3D, this is just obnoxious and really breaks the atmosphere of the film. It happens in every hand to hand combat scene too, and I think it really takes away the awesomeness that could have happened in some of those scenes."

For me that's a positive review!

I missed that. Looks like only Biohazard Damnation is in 3D.

Degeneration is not in 3D.

I can't remember what Sony release had it, but there was a trailer claiming the 3D was coming to Blu-ray way back before the eventual non 3D release.

About $50 used and $60 for Biohazard Damnation Blu-Ray In 3D. That's high for any 3d movie. I've never spent more than $40 for any 3d movie so this is really testing my addiction. Anyone plan to order it?

I suspect this guy never saw the 3D version. Shots that are obviously intended for 3D pop out fun, are a bit depressing in a 2D-only environment. Makes you feel like you're missing out. And indeed he is! Instead of whining, he should upgrade his equipment.
