The version in the 3-pack doesn't have the original Mono?

It might now, but it didn't originally. It wasn't until it was released as a standalone that the remastered version came with the original mono.

I am so excited to finally get it.

I am thinking a Dollars Trilogy marathon this weekend.

It does now. We figured sometime in July of 2014 after it had been released earlier in the year, was when Fox started silently shipping the correct Mix.

Again when they "Remastered" TGTBTU for the New Set, only early sets had the mixdown. Some members and I compared dates as to when we purchased, and found that July in 2014, three months after release, is when Fox had corrected sets released.

Then in October of 2014, I bought the New standalone on release day of TGTBTU, and found that the same corrected disc was in the case from Fox.

Some members in the mean time tried to get answers from Fox about it, and they basically were non committal with an answer about different discs for the remastered version in the New Trilogy release. A few members got replacements, and others were told too effin bad.

Hope that helps...

Too bad the video is still completely wrong and super ugly. The Italian region-free two pack of 1 and 2 are the best way to go for those films. The only good version of TGTBTU is the Mondo version I made when I added the original US soundtrack to that superior transfer.

Unseen footage from GBU until now has resurfaced

It's a long-shot but maybe this will start up those Criterion rumors again.

Id say the German region-free versions of the first two are just as good if not better. Actually I think they are better but I cant remember why, its on one of the threads anyway.
Would you like some coffee, Mr. Tully?

That's incredible, thank you!

It's be amazing to see more lost footage someday, particularly the complete Socorro sequence.

I agree. The gamma on Fistful is slightly different, and I prefer the slightly darker German transfer.

I own this one too but I think it's a bit too pinkish or purple.

i don't even watch my TGBU due to the reinserted scenes that are so badly overdubbed

you kinda get used to the color timing, but it is indeed overdone. apparently when the guy that worked with Leone on the film told them it had a yellow palette, they boosted the yellow to the maximum. its a wonder how this was ever green lit to be released.

overall though the transfer has potential, as the detail is great, but they need to turn the yellow down to a reasonable level and scrap the reinserted scenes that were clearly overdubbed 50 years later...its a shame the best release of this film (in english) is a 1998 DVD
I'll rain on your parade, Jack. You'll see a thunderstorm.

I bought the book "Behind-the-scenes of Sergio Leone's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and it has an interview with Tonino Delli Colli (cameraman and cinematographer) and he said:
"In a Western you cannot use alot of color. We kept to subdued shades, black, brown, off-white and the colors of the landscapes are rather vivid."

Rather vivid... does that mean yellow or not, probably not?
Alberto Grimaldi (producer) and the IP prints say and show something way different.
