I'm no videophile but this is, by far, the worst video quality bluray that I've ever seen. It easily replaces Hustle and Flow as the worst that I've seen. Am I missing something? Lots of specks and pops all over the place. Very blurry, if that's the right word.

This is a great movie, one of Paul Newman's finest performances. I disagree with those who lambast the PQ. Some of the comments sound as if they were watching my old DVD - or even a VHS copy. It's not a wiz-bang light show, but it was never meant to be one. It's a dark tale of corruption and redemption - and Sidney Lumet and Andrzej Bartkowiak captured that somber, reserved mood beautifully.

Although, like every BD I've ever seen, it could perhaps be better, I was never once distracted by the PQ - in fact, quite the contrary, several times I was struck by how much better it looked than I'd ever seen it before.
Cop : Just let me handle the questioning, okay? I mean, itís what I do for a living. Thereís gotta be a method to it. Itís psychology. You get him
to lower his guard - one sentence at a time, build a rhythm. Itís a lot like music.
Killer : Break his ****iní legs, heíll give ya a Who concert.

You can only have too much ammo if you're on fire or swimming.

Recently re-watched The Verdict - incredible film, and agree it's one of PN's best performances - I'd say one of his top 5...

I think it was brilliant to set/film this movie in winter (don't know whether this was intentional or not), since the stark, cold Boston weather outside complemented the coldness that Newman's character had to deal with when trying to get justice for his clients...

Key word here is ^

There are many, many worse looking titles out there. It's also not blurry (nor even very blurry), just a byproduct of early 80s film stocks. A remaster would bring back some sharpness, but it will never be digital-razor sharp, nor was it ever.

I like Paul Newman and thought "The Verdict" was an excellent film.

However, I wish another film of him will come out on Blu-ray. Itīs called "Fort Apache-The Bronx". Ken Wahl and Pam Grier are also in it.

Terrific film.
