Well that majorly sucks I guess I'll pick this up so I can get a new unrated dvd as my original copy is on it's last legs. But I may just get the dvd re release as I don't want to pay $17 for it if it doesn't have the unrated cut on blu-ray. I guess we'll have to wait til 2018 (30th anniversary) or for a new die hard movie for the unrated cut to finally be on blu-ray
My Reaction to every true story movie from now on:

Yeah, since HD wasn't even around yet when they made the Star Trek: TMP extended version. How silly of them.

If you want to be accurate. HDTV was around in the late 90's.

Considering I WAS/AM the poster you're talking about...you might want to re-think that statement.

For what it's worth, I emailed Fox Connect to find out if the "unrated feature" was a misprint and they responded with this:

"Dear Valued Customer,

Live Free or Die Hard does include the Unrated Feature on Blu-Ray and can be purchase through http://www.foxconnect.com.

Thank you,

Fox Customer Care"

I'm still not confident that this is accurate information but it might be worth the risk. If it turns out to be wrong, I could just complain that they sent the wrong item or provided incorrect information.

As it is confirmed the box set contains the PG-13 cut, there's no way they printed an entire batch of new discs with the Unrated version and then left it out of the set.

I saw this at a Half Price Books. I didn't buy it, but fans of the movie might want to add it to their collections.

Which means nothing, since it wasn't any sort of standard format for 15 more years.

The standard format means nothing. Paramount should have produced Star Trek: TMP Director's Cut as a full print release. The decision to make a home video SD version only was a plain stupid idea. So many people now want it in HD and now that Paramount didn't future proof that version, customers are upset. They have to now pay for the same job twice. I don't care if SD was standard at that time. HD was the quickly oncoming future.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I noticed Die Hard 4.0 bluray released in the UK, on October 27 2007 has a rating of 15. Is this uncut? If not then has there been an uncut version released on bluray?

The UK BD is the PG-13 version.

Both the PG-13 and Unrated (R) versions are '15' certificates in the UK.

The Unrated version has only been released in Taiwan and Germany (box set) AFAIK.

So, what's with this? When the 25th Ann set came out, much of the chatter was complaints about the edited and not the uncensored disc of Live Free being included (despite listing the Unrated). I, as others, was tempted by that set for just that disc. Now I find a listing for the unrated version which the site says was released in January of 2013 - yet posts here as late as September, 2014 say no US unrated version is available, which is what I always thought.

What gives? Was this not really the unrated version? Is it new and the date is misprinted?
You can only have too much ammo if you're on fire or swimming.

That is not the unrated version. The unrated version can only be found in this box set:

The unrated disc now exist here in the US (on the new set and the Nakatomi Tower set) so it just a matter of time before the stand alone disc is released.

Wasn't that the release where you got the theatrical on BD while the unrated was only available on the DVD? The Nakatomi Plaza edition was the first release to have the unrated specifically on a BD. To date no standalone release of Live Free or Die Hard has had the unrated cut, only on various box sets.

Yeah, that's what a poster in the 25th Ann. thread clued me into. What a crock:
