Sorry, but when you start throwing non-beloved characters in movies it'll inevitably not be as big as it could be.

I don't doubt marvels ability to hype, but if they think throwing Ant-man, Star-Lord, etc. at a movie and it being as big as thor, hulk, iron man, etc. I'd be shocked that it does well.

Sadly there are factors that are outside of Ultrons control... The Mayweather fight which I believe was the first Friday/Saturday following its opening which theres no way with the amount of people that tuned into that it didn't affect sales, and as far as fast7 goes, paul walkers passing had a lot to do with its following.
Because it's easier to have courage from a safe distance away.

I doubt MayPac cost the movie $200M though. And of course Walker's death helped F7 to be a monster hit, but it's still an absolutely towering achievement.

I'll hold off any final thought until I listen to Joss' commentary. If he records one, and if it's candid.

I am curious how much was his actual vision*, and how much was asked of him to add to tease future films he'll have no part of.

*no pun intended.
"Thanks. Thanks alot for not picking me."

Who said it was a flop? Still, I don't think anyone ever dreamed that F7 would outgross it worldwide...
