Oh man that sucks! For what it's worth I have 4 Wal-marts within 20 minutes of my home and only one had that display last year and it was in an out of the way spot in the store not near any of the other films. I stumbled across it after nearly giving up hope, so it isn't surprising to me that the employee's couldn't find it either.

I want to see this scene in ultra-HD so bad.

Beads of 4k sweat glistening on Slider's finely-sculpted pecs.

Dark pools of steaming arrogance shimmering on the oversize lenses of his fighter pilot sunglasses....white hot beams of sunlight flowing out of the frosted tips of Iceman's golden sex fro.

The sexual tension growing so thick that I have to wipe the condensation off the surface of my 55 inch plasma.

...you have no idea how bad I want that.

Deserves a new 2D disc with the 4k remaster.
The old master is terrible.

I absolutely agree. I've been angry since day one that the new remaster was only available in 3D. I don't own a 3D television, so I was left out, and I'd certainly be interested in a double-dip on Top Gun if it looked better than the original release. I've been totally baffled by the mostly great reviews the old disc has received. Visually, it's one of the worst blu-rays I own. Trouble is, the 4K remaster certainly has major issues of its own and needs some major recoloring / contrast correction based on the stills I've seen.

Yup, get that 4K remaster on 2D Blu-ray immediately so more people can complain about the original Tony Scott stylized look/colors.

Oh, so it's confirmed with evidence that it looked that yellow originally?
because I wouldn't have thought Top Gun is such a stylised -color-wise- film.

I've seen multiple 35mm prints and they all have a stylized look as do a lot of other Tony Scott films. I've also posted several scans from 35mm prints on here as well as other platforms.

I would post some more but don't see the point since a few members have accused them of being faded prints that have conveniently faded from scene to scene to match the Blu-rays.

Done with putting in effort to prove something to people too stubborn and ignorant to accept the truth and facts. Maybe when the Labyrinth remaster is accused of having a revisionist gold and blue tint, I'll post some then since I already have a lot of scans saved on my computer.

Barely any Blu-rays are with the exception of stuff like Dog Soldiers, the UK Straw Dogs and other masters taken from theatrical prints because Blu-ray masters tend to be taken from much higher quality sources which don't have issues with contrast or the like.

All I can say is that the Blu-ray is faithful to the original intended look going by what I've seen on 35mm prints, and I doubt Paramount would purposefully destroy one of Tony Scott's most iconic films just so shortly after his unfortunate death.

Either way I'm perfectly happy with the current 3D Blu-ray of Top Gun, the absence of a 2D version doesn't bother me at all as my TV can convert 3D video to 2D perfectly anyway.
