Hi mike"viera" and welcome.

New movie + new TV = confusion.
Put in a disc you're familiar with before drawing any conclusions, and not The Matrix

Most scenes in Kill Bill are stunning but that church scene is highly stylized by Mr Tarantino. Very grainy as intended!

Also depending on its picture mode and sharpness setting, your TV could be exaggerating the noise, grain and other picture detail. Cinema picture mode with sharpness near the bottom usually works best on the Pannys. Avoid modes called sports, dynamic or vivid.

Searched first; no hits: Are there inserts in the BDs? Reproductions of the DVD inserts featuring Andy Klein's reviews of the pics for CityBeat?

Never saw the DVDs, but what you see on the front and back covers is what you get.

Thank you. They are both nice "write ups" that I think I'll have to make color copies of before selling my DVDs (hopefully--what a saturated market it is for these two DVDs). I think I'm about done waiting for a BD of The Whole Bloody Affair with copious supplements.

Hey, remember how I said I was gonna post a fake criterion, but I couldn't since it wasn't a URL? Well, now it's my avatar.
G&LC will make 14728 a movie. If not, they know the plot

Theres a 5 hour version of Fanny and Alexander on 1 disc. Just wanted to put it out there.

I agree about your Blade Runner- type idea. I always thought there should be a blu ray release like this:
Disc 1: Documentary on the making of the film. It would be interactive, e.g during a clip of music video, you'd click on a little box that says click here to watch full thing. It'd end on a screening of the film, which would go into disc 2.
Disc 2:Begins with Kill bill volume 1. It then shows a much smaller documentary (about how it got no oscar noms, box office, trailers, etc.), which ends with a screening of KB2.
Disc 3: Begins with KB2. Another small documentary about the same things plus the legacy of the films, and ends with a screening of the Whole Bloody Affair.
Disc 4: The whole Bloody Affair.

There's probably not enough behind the scenes stuff for this, but maybe there could be a work print for Volume 3 in disc 1. (I think) It would be awesome if this happened.

I haven't seen this and did not go through the whole thread, but does anyone have any experience with the Canada 2-on-1 release? I got it a while back and have been meaning to watch it, but never got around to it. Knowing more about the format now, I wonder how much lower the quality is and if I should just get the separate disc releases?

Now I'm a not a huge stickler for AQ/PQ, but I don't want to compromise TOO much.

Thoughts?

The PQ and AQ should be the same as the separate releases, but there are no extras and no english subtitles. That should be the only difference.

IDK how they compare but I have been searching for that double feature. If you decide you would wanna get rid of it I will gladly trade you my 2 US single disc releases for it

I recall discussion in one of the Canadian threads at the time that there was a slight loss in PQ. Nobody posted screenshots or anything but there were a few posts on the subject.
