If the movie sucks we then know to blame the director and not some random suit or even worse the totalitarian lunacy of the MPAA (which should also be abolished)

I always go for director's cut. in the event i dont like the directors cut i opt to not even own the movie.
Yeah, but the Blu-Ray for Amadeus is not the director's preferred version. He railed against the deleted scenes on the laserdisc commentary for the film, saying he thought they weakened Salieri and made him look silly. The longer cut - like Dances With Wolves and The Exorcist - was a marketing gimmick to sell the same movie twice. Friedkin went along with The Exorcist cut, Costner said he had nothing to do with the extended cut of Dances With Wolves, calling it a "studio thing".

This may be true, but I still prefer the extended cut.

Was this actually confirmed? I knew it was rumored because they're talking about making Dumb and Dumber To, but I hadn't heard that it was confirmed in any way, although Warner has marked it down to $4 frequently.

EDIT: I see this was already covered.

I also prefer the Extended Cut but MGM should've made a 4K master and put the film on two discs. They used an older master for the Blu-ray. I'll import the UK Blu-ray eventually but put it before the USA release. Also will be adding a disc hub and putting the OST CD with the UK release.

Just to chime in it's my opinion all companies should also offer seamless branching or two seperate discs, if the alternate cut is too drastically different, for different versions.
Just mirror the releases for BLADE RUNNER, ALIEN Anthology, and GLADIATOR.

Working on rebuys. Every 10 or so, I'll buy a couple titles I've never owned on the format.
Proud to be a S.T.A.L.K.E.R and fan of The Doctor. All official ones.

Not sure if the Manhunt DC should count or not; it is technically included on Blu-ray, but only as an extra in SD PAL.

Germany got the R-rated theatrical cut, but it's an open-matte 1.78:1 print. Ironically, this means you get on-screen Baleman wang that you can't see on the uncut scope prints.

THE EVIL DEAD had several minor digital alterations on both HD restorations to remove crew members and lighting equipment. Also, I'm almost sure THE EXORCIST has a digital dissolve on the "Theatrical" cut that wasn't on the film's original release, though I'm not going to complain too hard about it.

The Criterion release of SALO: 120 DAYS OF SODOM is missing footage that's included on the BFI Blu-ray. I can't speak for theatrical prints, though the scene was present on the Criterion LD back in the early '90s.

On the other hand, Last of The Mohicans has only some Director's messed up version on blu.

Would have been nice if we would have gotten both cuts of Star Trek and all three cuts of Last of the Mohicans.
