How much darker than the Divimax DVD is it?

Just saw this thread and ordered almost immediately ! I did read at least half this thread first cause i find when the majority of reviews here are positive i will usually be satisfied w/ a release. I also just got my first LED Smart TV last week (had a 2009 LCD before that) so after viewing a few Blu Ray's im really feeling the title itself is what i care about most, not so much the extras. If i want to see extras i will still hold on to my DVD. This just fits into those classic 80's horrors i love & the price is pretty reasonable, i can't wait to get this

For all the truly bad transfers that get good scores here, I don't understand why this perfectly serviceable HD transfer got so dumped on by the reviewer. Yeah, it's soft. It was a soft-looking film. Image has put out worthless crap before, but this ain't it.

Is this movie worth buying, or is it one of those ones that you can only appreciate if you saw it as a kid?

I am tempted to say it is worth it for "The Raft" story alone, but that might be nostalgia talking. The other two stories are mediocre at best. Since the Blu Ray isn't going to "wow" you with technical aspects of supplements, I suggest that you just rent it.

I watched the bd within the last month. For me it did not hold up as well as it did when I was younger.

I saw both parts on Blu just a few weeks ago after many years not watching them. I liked part 2 much better. Compared to it part 1 is kind of boring. My all time favorite of all the stories of both parts is the hitchhiker one (last from part 2). The smashed up guy always coming back, driving the woman crazy, is just too cool. And she runs him over again and again in the same car I also drove for a long time (Mercedes S-class w126).

I noticed that the back of the case on this site says "DTS-HD Master Audio Stereo", but according to Michael Reuben's review: "...The Blu-ray features a 5.1 soundtrack in DTS-HD MA 5.1."

I assume Mr. Reuben is probably right, but figured it wouldn't hurt to see if someone can confirm what configuration the audio is in.

Also, does anyone have any info on the newer Happinet remastered version?
