Default Just bought a 3DS, need some suggestions

I will be getting the Link Between Worlds 3DS XL bundle for Christmas and I'm looking for some suggestions for games. This will be my first Nintendo device since I traded in my N64 for a PS2. I also have a PS3, PS4 and Vita so I will only be playing exclusives on the 3DS. If I remember correctly I've only ever played the Ocarina of Time in the Legend of Zelda series, so I will be trying to get as much of that in as I can. Basically I'm just looking for some suggestions of what I missed in the last 12+ years of Nintendo gaming.

Edit: I should also add I'm not looking to play any long RPGs (40+ hours) at the moment.

Well, you can't go wrong with Ocarina of Time 3DS and Star Fox 3DS both enhanced ports of the N64 games. I also enjoyed Kid Icarus Uprising and Super Mario 3D Land which is kind of a cross between platform Mario and 3D Mario. I think Donkey Kong Country Returns is out on 3DS, also. There's a nice selection of Virtual Console games on 3DS, although I can't remember which ones were exclusive to early adopters of the 3DS.

They were free to those who purchased and registered a 3DS on the eShop before a certain date. There were 20 games total:

[Show spoiler]Super Mario Bros.
The Legend of Zelda
Metroid
Donkey Kong Jr.
Yoshi
Wrecking Crew
Ice Climber
Balloon Fight
NES Open Tournament Golf
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Metroid Fusion
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Wario Land 4
WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

As for which games you should get, I would recommend:

- Mario Kart 7
- New Super Mario Bros 2
- Super Mario 3D Land
- Donkey Kong Returns 3DS

I can definitely recommend Pokemon y (and x). I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it (I haven't played since original red).

For anyone who has just bought a 3DS, I would recommend Luigi's Mansion 2, Sonic Lost World and Mario Kart 7. All three really show off how excellent the 3D is, whilst also being fun games in their own right.

I've pretty much been playing nothing but Fantasy Life for the past month. I'm at 38 hours (which is good for me considering I have very limited time to play. It ended up topping my previous #1 game time wise, which was Dragon Quest IV at 34 hours) I haven't even done a third of the jobs yet and I'm still pretty early on in the main story. Such a fun game.

Definitely buy Luigi's Mansion 2. It's fantastic- another Nintendo masterpiece. I would also recommend Sonic Lost World and the Professor Layton games.

Plus: you can't buy a 3DS and not have Mario Kart 7. Mario Kart 7 is simply just perfect.

EDIT: Oh. Thought this was a new thread but I have already posted here.
