Amazon Super NES Theme New Nintendo 3DS XL - November 27, 2017 (Amazon Exclusive)

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201..._north_america

Quote:
In a bit of a surprising move Amazon has opened pre-orders on a New Nintendo 3DS XL - Super NES Edition in North America, which hasn't (at the time of writing) been revealed by Nintendo.

Pre-orders on both Amazon US and Amazon Canada give a release date of 27th November, with box art showing that Super Mario Kart is pre-installed on the device. An equivalent arrived with the relevant regional design in Europe recently, but there'd been little indication that Nintendo of America was planning to follow suit.

Pre-Order here:
US - $199.99
Canada - $239.99

I was hoping this day would come. I even already have a clear TPU case ready to go that I bought earlier this year when it was on sale for stupid cheap, just in case this day happened.

Is this confirmed to be an Amazon exclusive?

Yes. It's on the Amazon homepage

There will undoubtedly be people who try to make the argument that "Maybe the version with the Mario Kart download is what's exclusive to Amazon" but it seems highly unlikely that an entire SKU with new packaging would be created for Amazon for an $8 digital download. It's not like this is going to sell huge numbers this late in the 3DS life. Gamestop has also had exclusive 3DS releases in the past.

I'm so torn. I love my New 2DS. If this was the Super Famicom colors it would be a no brainer.

Looks like Amazon delivered mine a day early. I have to bring my son to the library tonight so unfortunately I probably won't have time to do the transfer from my old 3DS tonight.

I always told myself I would buy this if it actually came out.

I have the NES GBA SP.

And a Famicom GBA Micro.

Even though I already own a New 3DS XL...which I purchased earlier in the year...now I own this.

I prefer this as the Super Famcom means little to me, outside of pictures in magazines prior to the release of the SNES.

I'm primarily happy about the color scheme of the control pad and inside. Like the NES GBA SP, the inside resembles the controller. Some probably think the buttons should be concave and convex like the SNES controllers, but I don't think so. It's a different system. The NES GBA SP didn't have different buttons either.

There was an earlier 3DS XL version with a picture of a NES controller on the outside. Pretty ugly and half-assed. Never considered that.

I do kinda wish the finished product of this one didn't actually have the SUPER NINTENDO name on it. Or the Power/Eject/Reset labels. But kept the rest of the design with the colors and lines.
