Yes absolutely, Seed is only vaguely referenced if at all. (it's been a while since I watched Curse so I can't recall specifically.).
[Show spoiler]I honestly was under the assumption that Curse was a sequel to part 3 during my first time viewing and was surprised to find out it actually followed the first 5. There really isn't any mention or noteworthy details from Bride or Seed until towards the end of the film, and those are largely related to Chucky's appearance.

You could almost count it as a reboot of the first few films if ya wanted. I don't recall much mention of anything from prior films in it, cept Tiffany, but just pretend she's some mystery woman.

I liked 1-3 and Bride, so I will just erase Seed from my mind and see if Curse makes sense without it.

Thanks guys.

It will, there's really no connection between Seed and Curse.
Escape From New York Scream Factory
It improves upon the A/V quality of the previous MGM Blu-ray, preserves the best of the 2003 DVD extras, and adds great new material too. Donít miss it!

Yeah but still, you don't really need to have even seen Seed to enjoy Curse.

This isn't true... without knowledge of at 1-4 a lot of plot points don't make sense.
[Show spoiler]For Starters, the ending makes absolutely zero sense as you'll have no idea who Andy is. Add in the Tiffany doll, the fact that Chucky's face is all screwed up, and the sudden reveal that he's not a nice fresh faced doll loses a lot of it's meaning.
Curse of Chucky doesn't spell everything out for you, but there are still plenty of references to what has come before it.

Just saw this thread and realized I need to buy this set before I start my October horror-thon. I agree on Seed, it was so awful. It was basically a parody in and of itself. Curse, to me, was a nice return to form. I thoroughly enjoyed the last one.

SPOILERZZZZZ

Bros, I love ya, but I don't see how you can ignore Seed for Curse when Tiffany is back in a human body. That happened at the end of Seed, so it seems pretty crucial to getting the ending and how Chucky got to the house in the first place. I guess you could ignore Bride AND Seed and say she was some random person, but that seems like a stretch. Oh well.

I liked Curse a lot. It suffered a bit from feeling like a remix of the original but most sequels do so no harm, no foul. Very creepy and well shot, I hope he directs more films of this type. You can't really cry nepotism on Fiona Dourif when she did such a great job, props to her. There was one CGI shot that looked bad on the stairs but other than that Chucky looked great throughout, very creepy new face before the old face returns.

I don't get the dual endings though, they seem to contradict one another. I notice the second ending is in the unrated cut only, so maybe it's not canon and is just kind of a bonus. It feels to me like they shot both and had a harm time deciding between them so they threw the loser on the end of the credits as a compromise. If you shut the movie off when the credits start it's a pretty chilling end to the series as a whole.

Overall I still prefer the original 80's style trilogy of films, and those are what I bought the set for, but Curse was a nice bonus. Bride is fun for what it is, Seed is terrible. Great package overall, especially for $40.

I would rank them:

1) Child's Play
2) Child's Play 2
3) Bride of Chucky
4) Curse of Chucky
5) Seed of Chucky
6) Child's Play 3

I can't even get through Child's Play 3 most of the time TBH, I just never connected with it and actively dislike it. As for Bride of Chucky, I just love it. Like a lot. At least equally with Curse of Chucky. Most people hate Seed of Chucky, but I actually enjoy it for what it is, a sorta-meta dark comedy film (emphasis on the comedy) with Chucky in it!

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I really hope a sequel comes sooner rather than later.

Sounds like someone needs to re-watch this as they missed or forgot a lot. That would be me.

I thought Curse was decent. It surely is better than the dreadful Seed!!! That movie sucks so bad man, geez. A lot of people like Bride but don't care to much for that entry either. 1 thru 3 is where it at for me, and in that order too. Like I said, Curse was decent but it could have used a little work. I hope the next one brings back Andy as a lead character, and it would be nice to have his mom ( Catherine Hicks ) return as well.

Seed is underrated. I thought it was funny. I cringed more during part 2 after rewatching that recently. Curse just looks like a bunch of cheap jump scares.

It's really not. You should actually give it a shot. It's one of the better sequels.

I just picked this up the other day and will go through the series once I begin my Halloween viewing. I've seen them all except Curse, and as I recall, my ranking was:

Child's Play
Bride of Chucky
Seed of Chucky
Child's Play 2
Child's Play 3

It'll be interesting to see if that changes, as it's been years since I've seen any of the sequels, which I've only seen once with the exception of Seed.

I know Seed gets a lot of flack, and I'm not saying it's not deserving, but I remember finding it more entertaining (not better made, just a more enjoyable viewing experience) than 2 or 3. Of course, I was also 10 when I saw it, so my opinion could drastically have changed.

Still have to pick this set up. Even though some are goofy they all work together.
