The empty wall I would be able to use would only be 4 ft H x 5 ft W, as it's the only part not covered by windows or thermostats, etc, if I ever got a projector.
that really depends on the type of screen more than the projector. You can have a fixed screen in the middle of a room that works as a divider, or, like a guy I know, that has a motorized roll up screen just in front of his movie shelves, he goes in picks a movie, pushes on the remote "watch a movie" and the screen comes down and covers it all then when he stops and pushes "off" the screen goes back up. Obviously motorized screen and fancy remote and programming means extra expense. But a screen can be in front of windows or walls, in my basement HT I did not need the windows my screen is constantly down and in front of them.

Best Buy needs to advertise them more in stores.
maybe, can't say what BB should do.

I'm guessing they can play broadcast/cable TV also?
I don't know of a projector with a built in tuner. so you won't be able to add an antenna or your cable connection to it and watch your shows. But if you use a cable box then you can just connect it to your projector just like you connected it to your TV and the way you will connect your BD player. And if you want OTA then a PVR or an external tuner can easily be added.

For me thats the deal breaker with a tv i just buy the tv and thats it, i own it for years and years, a projector may go out within a year of use, ive even had one that the color wheel went out, It was just as expensive to get a new one wich i ended up doing, this was before 3d was big so I dont really wanna go thru the mess again, im just sticking with the biggest tv i can afford
maybe many years ago when some business projectors had a bulb life of ~1k hours, but, since we discussed the Epson 3020 before, it's bulb life is 4000-5000 hours. That would mean that you would need to have it on for more than 12 hours a day each and every day in order to to come close to needing a new one every year. For most people it will be every 3-5 years

Seriously! It costs £100 every 3 - 5 years to replace a bulb.

My projector cost £1,000 (about the same as a good quality 55 inch 3dtv) , the screen (100 inch) cost me £160.

We probably watch 15 movies a week.

For my partner and I to go and see a 3D movie together it costs us £27 FOR ONE MOVIE! And that is if we don't eat or drink anything, if we do it's probably close to £35. At home I don't have to sit in a slightly dim room, with brightly lit exit signs in my view wherever I sit, I can sit in a dark room with no distractions! I don't have to listen to morons sit and talk through the whole film and ruin my experience. I don't have to 'hope' the 15 year old projectionist actually gives a shit about his job and has properly set up the projector and my projector at home looks 100 times better than any cinema I have ever been in.

The amount of money we save NOT having a horrible experience in the cinema, more than makes up for a bulb every 5 years!

Very well said!

I choose the best seat in my home/apartment Theater every single time and 3D depends a lot on this as well! Also I get to decide how bright the image should be and I get to save on gas by skipping those visits to the local theater. Also I get to choose when and how many times to take a break!

Some people even go all the way out and install popcorn machines and bars in their man caves but you can choose to keep it simple!

Also people do want to upgrade their TV's as well as new technology is introdced....so TV is not a life time investment either! I bought top of the line LCD TV only to be disappointed the next year when they introduced LED TV followed by 3D.

Given that I only use my PJ for watching movies, I expect the bulb life to be a non-issue as I expect the 4K projectors to be hitting shelves by then.

I don't think I have even turned my television on for about 6 months

I wonder if Nolan will be open to considering 3D in the future after Man of Steel's conversion is complete? He has the right to change his mind about 3D, but seems pretty set on his opinion of it.

For one of the best 3D conversions with strong 3D, also consider checking out Titanic's 3D, just to see what is possible with conversions, if you haven't seen the 3D in that one yet. It's actually stronger than a lot of natively filmed 3D movies.
Being I haven't seen The Hobbit yet, I haven't seen the 3D trailer to Man Of Steel yet. But from what you said it sounds like the actual movie in 3D might have a lot of promise.

I hope Nolan does consider a 3D after this also(all tho quite a bit of his movie i do find boring, no lie) I read a few articles where he said he was trying to do a 3D conversion job for Inception, but dropped cause he didn't have enough time to do a thorough job on it before the release. He's a modern day Hitchcock even he did one 3D film I think Nolan could do one as smartly as Dial M For Murder also, which I hear is really good in 3D and need to get.

I heard Titanic 3D was really good that's one of the movies, next on my list. I watched a 3D demo of it on the Prometheus Blu-Ray. The 3D in that movie I thought was better and more impressive than in Prometheus & the I Robot demo I watched.

I love changing aspect ratios.

I love projectors too.
