Hope Tenebre and Phenomena which are slasher films btw get the treatment too.
I'll be honest, i wouldnt call either slashers.

Tenebre is very much a giallo, and Phenomena i feel strays too far from the typical elements to be called one as well.

Yeah I'm inclined to agree.

These are the only types of films receiving awesome treatment these days from any studio, large or small. I was spot-checking my copy of Exorcist II last night and was shocked at how awful the PQ was. Never mind the film, which is bizarre beyond belief, but this thing actually looked like DVD or worse. Soft, smeary, overly bright, the works. To top it off it came in an eco case which slightly creased the sleeve. I'm glad I cancelled that stupid Anthology box set. Thank goodness for the small independent labels - their stuff are just about the only movies I buy.

They've already stated it's within the realm of possible future releases, but they have no plans for it now. I find Suspiria to be over hyped in most instances and while I will for sure pick it up, I'd rather see Black Roses first.
I'm not really interested in Suspiria either, I'd much rather they put Popcorn on the front burner.

Black Roses isn't really a favorite, but I'd probably upgrade my DVD.

This.

Not every movie in which someone is killed with a sharp implement is a slasher film.

To be fair, there's a very fine line between a giallo and a slasher.

It's true. But there is a distinction.

They are just known as Giallo films - the Argento ones are GREAT films but there are other Giallos worth owning such as Who Saw Her Die, What Have you do to Solange, The Bloodstained Shadow.. some really terrific films.. Its like horror thriller slasher mystery.. but its simply Giallo

I received my copy of The Exorcist Anthology yesterday and the first thing I did was pop in Exorcist II - I was shocked at not only how bad the PQ was for a blu ray, but how bad the sound was too. I then popped in Exorcist III to watch and I had the sound so turned up from trying to hear Exorcist II that I almost blew the door off!

Yes Exorcist II has pretty bad picture just like Echo bridge's Halloween H2O BD has but it's no as bad as Machine Girl if you want the worst PQ on a horror BD.

I agree. Never been a huge fan of the Three Mothers trilogy. I kinda liked Inferno, but I've never been able to finish Suspiria. The last movie, Mother of Tears, was awful.

I'd rather get Blood and Black Lace.

Giallos have better scores and cinematography. And cooler-sounding (albeit frequently non-sensical) titles.

Synapse is obviously committed to superior picture/audio fidelity; but I wonder if a new master would even be necessary for some of the DVD era titles assuming they were mastered in high definition initially.

Synapse will likely look at their older HD masters on a title-by-title basis to determine if they might need to rescan. The good thing is, Don May has always been a film purist who has NEVER indulged in unnecessary digital tinkering like grain-removal, DNR, edge-enhancement, etc. etc., so even his "old" HD masters probably still have a lot of life in them compared to what some other companies were doing 10-odd years ago.

I imagine POPCORN will likely surface well before SUSPIRIA. Working in 4K is just so much more time consuming and expensive, probably better to get some other big titles out of the way first (which will also bring in some revenue, or course).
