Unfortunately we use this TV in the bed room with a sound bar / no receiver. We just bought the TV a few weeks ago, so I would image it came with the latest firmware. But in any case, where do I find the current firmware info? I've looked through the menus and can't find any information.

While it doesn't solve your sound problem, the review that I mentioned earlier (http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-t...-35244017.html) helps with picture calibration if you haven't done that yet.

Internal speakers in HDTV's always seem to be a problem and there are very few that I have heard about that are good. For your bedroom I would go with a soundbar.
Sony Bravia KDL46HX750 LED/3D Tv.
Sony BDP S590 Blu Ray Player. Pioneer HTP-071 Surround Sound System. |

I have the toshiba taked about in previous posts (also use a soundbar, which works great). I am very happy with this tv. I didnt know much about itwhen I bought it, it was a one day deal on ebay. Picked it up over a year ago for $499 with free shipping. So far its great, no problems whatsoever. The wi-fi dongle came with it and it works ok, but I use appletv for all my internet stuff, so I don't use the apps on the tv very much at all.

I actually liked the Toshiba LED's myself. The L5200 is good. On a side note I saw the 55L6200 which I thought looked the best out of the bunch for the price range. That an it had this neat little keyboard for the Smart functions.
I wonder why Toshiba doesnt get so much exposure on here or do I need to get my glasses checked |

The Toshiba's are also noticeably cheaper than other brand sets, for a similar quality and reliability. They make for great 40" TV's.

Seriously, Toshiba is very underrated after I looked into them. I had a family member buy the 50" 50L2200u, and I thought it wouldnt be good since its native 60Hz, and they paid around 700.00 for it, but honestly, the picture looks great and the motion performance was smooth across.
I found it was full array LED too or at the least Direct LED spec. No flash lighting or uniformity issues. Colours were solid and no motion blur that I could see. Oddly, I was playing with a 50" Samsung at Costco, the 50EH6000 series and removing the fake motion interpolation to off, and even with blur reduction maximized, it was still more blurry then the Toshiba, but then again, it was on Store Demo. Maybe it's because Toshiba doesnt make their own panels and just builds their TVs on other brands purchased parts, but whoever is doing the engineering is doing a good job over there. I think people are just hung up with the other brands as well, but I would give Toshiba a shot if I were looking for a solid LED at a good price. |
