In July (2011) Nomura said Versus 13 still hadn't entered full production - more than five years after it was first announced.

Hidemi Matsuzuka, general manager Square Enix merchandise manufacturer Play Arts Kai, posted a picture of a perfume called Noctis, with the simple comment “Prince”. Prince Noctis is the name of the main character in Final Fantasy Versus 13. Those are the facts. Here’s the rampant speculation: Square Enix is preparing a line of merchandise or promotional materials for Final Fantasy Versus 13, which is going to break cover after years of vapourous silence, possibly at the February 20 PlayStation Meeting, where a jump to PlayStation 4 would explain a great many things. I doubt it would be a launch title but a 2014 launch maybe if we're lucky. By my count the games been in production on PS4 for the best part of 2 years, same as the last guardian.

The absolutely, positively very "first" female protagonist in Final Fantasy history, Lightning, is once again in the pilot seat for the upcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. This is the third game under the FFXIII umbrella -- fourth if you still regard Type-0 by its original name, Final Fantasy Agito XIII. Missing from these numerous releases is the other big spoke in the wheel, Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Where is it? What's going on?

It might be that. Who knows what SE is up to. After the tech demo during the ps4 reveal, some SE bigwig came out and see be excited for E3. I took that as a proper reveal for Vs, or ff-xv, which could be both, or a vii remake.
