So I've been comparing the US special features with the DE special features.
The DE Blu-ray has an additional 45 minutes of interviews and a B-roll feature (20 minutes). The optional commentary for the deleted scenes and dailies is missing on the DE Blu-ray though.

Interviews:

Quote:
+ Interviews
- Logan Lerman ("Charlie") (03:59 Min.)
- Ezra Miller ("Patrick") (04:17 Min.)
- Emma Watson ("Sam") (06:00 Min.)
- Nina Dobrev ("Candace") (02:47 Min.)
- Johnny Simmons ("Brad") (03:26 Min.)
- Paul Rudd ("Mr. Anderson") (02:47 Min.)
- Erin Wilhelmi ("Alice") (03:02 Min.)
- Kate Walsh (Mutter) (03:28 Min.)
- Mae Whitman ("Mary Elizabeth") (04:32 Min.)
- Russell Smith & Lianne Halfon (Produktion) (05:05 Min.)
- Stephen Chbosky (Drehbuch & Regie) (07:01 Min.)

Definitely. I blind bought it release day based on the reactions here, and it instantly shot up to my top 3 of last year. Not to overhype it though. Just see it for yourself with an open mind.

I'm actually shocked at the amount of people that I run into that love this movie. Don't get me wrong, I consider it one of the best films of 2012, but this is coming from someone who read the book in High School English about 10 years ago. Just this past christmas eve I sat down with my much older sisters and their children (who are middle-school aged) along with my 70-something parents and it was enjoyed by all.

I loved this movie too. I saw it on Showtime a few months ago. I had to really convince family members to see it, and get them to sit down and stay for the movie. Within minutes they were riveted, and by the end they were crying. I think the two male performances are the real standouts...without Lerman there's no movie, and Miller brought such spontaneity and life to the film ("because let's face it. I smoke all you *****es"). I'd say it's among my favorites from last year, behind Zero Dark Thirty (in my opinion the best film of 2012). No, it's not perfect...though I love the Joan Cusack cameo, I can't help but think that it's saying that Charlie's awkward experience in high school came about more because of Charlie's mental health rather than normal high school issues. That said, it holds up on repeat viewings; there are so many memorable scenes that can be appreciated by everyone.

I loved this film! Emma Watson is really carving out a great career for herself and overcoming the child actor jinx.

That small role she took in My Week With Marilyn, she was great in The Bling Ring, didn't you love watching her "boogie down" inside the club? She gots some moves and This Is The End.

"He shot himself last May" gets me emotional every time. I don't know why.

I'm trying to decide between the US and the DE edition.

How interesting is the optional commentary (deleted scenes, dailies) ?

>>>

US Blu-ray:

"Deleted Scenes with Optional Commentary by Writer/Director Stephen Chbosky"

"Dailies with Optional Commentary by Writer/Director Stephen Chbosky"

This was a labor of love for Chbosky. Everything with his input is worthwhile as far as this film is concerned.

By the way, the B-Roll is available on YouTube. I would imagine the interviews aren't difficult to find, too.

Agreed. The special features are all very good on the US release. I just wish there was more of them.

I haven't been able to find the interviews (45 minutes) online.

You're probably right...I guess the optional commentary (deleted scenes, dailies) is more interesting than the B-roll and the interviews.

I will PM you if I can find the interviews.

I would place a premium on extras with Chbosky's input since he wrote the novella and adapted it himself. Interviews with actors are nice, but they usually just say the same things for all of their roles ("The script spoke to my heart", "The character just rings so true", etc.).
