Meh, I don't mind it. I'd rather have grindhouse EtD than jaggiesville EtD. But neither is optimal, admittedly.

Well, Geoff, I have owned both versions for a year now and for all the upsides of the 2013 version I keep going back to the 2007 version. It has jaggies, but from the distance I usually watch my 55" plasma (3 metres) I don't see them. Extras-wise, I don't feel the new edition brought much new to the table. And my 2007 edition also includes the Warriors Journey doc.

I'll patiently await the 45th or 50th Anniversary edition. ;-)

I sit about 2.5 metres away from my 55 and I see the jaggies everywhere on the old one. It's the sort of thing that once I see, it can't be unseen.

Don't see! Feel!... It's like a finger, pointing to the jaggies... Don't concentrate on the jaggies, or you'll mis all of the remastered, glory!

It's funny, if the releases were the other way around then people would be moaning about how cold and blue everything looks. The old transfer is drab and dingy, while the new one has a bit more pep and vitality to it.

In fact, I think... Uh sorry FEEL... :-) the opposite. The new transfer looks drab (in its own way) and worn - grindhouse - like a 2nd or 3rd generation print with colours altered from the aging process. The transfer per se is outstanding as its extremely true-to-source, but it's the source that is way off.

Here we go again!!!!!!!

OK. I won't post any more on this. Promise!

Jaggies are the lesser of two evils here.

Not for me bro. Even if it was black and white without jaggies I'd take that, as opposed to colour plus a fundamental flaw with the horizontal resolution.

Could the 40th Anniversary release be based off the technicolor dye transfer print?

http://www.oscars.org/events/enter-dragon/

The Academy had an screening with many of the cast members last year.

I found this little info interesting:
"The screening marked the first public projection of an original 35mm Technicolor dye-transfer print from the Academy Film Archive, presenting the film as audiences would have seen it first run back in 1973."

I'm sure this is quite possible. It certainly does look 'old'...

That's actually a chipboard box that holds the movie and all the extra stuff (photos, patch, etc) that came with it, so they can't really sell it without.

I see. The item page here on Blu-ray.com says it's a slip cover that was only included in the original pressing. I think I read somewhere about a lenticular slip cover being included?

No lenticular that I know of. However, I wouldn't say it couldn't be sold without the box. I imagine a pressing later on will drop all the bonus swag and just sell the standard disc in case on the inside.
