I just watched this for the first time tonight and thought it was awesome. It's such a shame there won't be any more made.

So what do folks think about the bonus disc at BB? I'm debating on if I'm going to pick this up when the cost goes down or just use it towards my Disney BD commitment?
Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?

Amazon has been listing this movie for quite some time at $22.99.

For about 4 hours today, it was down to $17.28 on Amazon.

Now back to their regular price of $22.99.....What a joke !!!

Finishing this now, my love of this movie increases every time I watch it. I hope after the Nemo sequel Disney will let Stanton finish this series up.
Next films to see in theaters: The Great Gatsby, Star Trek: Into Darkness

Got this movie on Bluray during the Christmas season and finally set down to watch it for a second time after seeing it in theaters (I didn't too much care for it when I first saw it).

The Bluray's picture quality is absolutely dazzling and the sound is catastrophically epic. While it still isn't my favorite movie of the year, I did like it somewhat better the second time.

I bought the Blu-ray/DVD combo of John Carter several months ago, before I had a Blu-ray player, and I watched the Blu-ray for the first time yesterday.

I love this movie. The larger-than-life Disney live-action epic made a comeback, but the masses did not accept it. I love the earnestness of this movie, though, and how it evokes the old-school Ray Harryhausen style of big cinema.

Well said! This film was a ton of fun and its such a shame that the masses didn't come out and support it. The marketing was the clear culprit in killing any hope for a franchise to be born. I always encourage people to give "John Carter" a watch because it really is a fun adventure.

This might be considered a cult classic down the line. It suffers from using tropes used by other sci fi stories that drew from Carters original material.
Folks let Avatar slide but it had the new eye candy to set itself away from the pack despite the tired storyline. Folks paid for Prometheous in the thatre and the home.
If anything id place it in the same vein as Equilibrium loyalty fans without the "underground" status.
But I doubt any sort of fandom will get a sequel made.

Yeah, I imagine you're correct. At the end of the day, Disney is no different than any of the major studios when it comes to profit and "John Carter" just didn't cut it for them to warrant another sequel. I know creative minds like Stanton would be itching to get back and continue the franchise but for now sadly, I just can't see it happening. Then again, the future may hold hope since Disney certainly isn't against revisiting older film properties after many years have passed (ie "The Rescuers", "Tron", etc.)

I finally picked up the 3D edition of this wonderful flick. I don't have the 3D set up yet but await the day I can watch it in 3D since I'd heard it was pretty good. Until then the Reg blu will have to do.

This film is SOOOOOO under rated. When you get to see it in 3D you are in for a real treat!

I just ordered the 3D version myself last night. Still don't have a 3D set up just yet either but I wanted to ensure I snatched the slipcover on the 3D version before it disappears.

Now that Disney owns Star Wars, perhaps they might be inclined to move forward with(at least) a sequel, as Sci-Fi is going to be pretty big for them in coming years! A longshot, but one never knows!
