I just got:

B&W Nautilus 804 front L/R
HTM2 Center
B&W Nautilus 805 side L/R

in Red Cherry

They are replacing my Polk Monitors (now moved to the bedroom). I've only had them for a few days but my Yamaha 765 (95 watts per channel) seemed to need more on the dial to get the same amount of volume out of them. So I'm headed home tonight to hook up a Bryston 9B ST 1250 Watt 5 channel Amp to drive them.

I do have a funny story (well I laughed): When I first set the speakers up on Sunday I attached the speaker cables to the top pair of posts. My Polks had a bridge attaching a single pair of audio cables to all 4 posts which drove all of the speakers in each tower. Anyways I threw in a movie and was immediately heartbroken that the sound was so bad even cranked up. I thought at first that my receiver wasn't pushing enough power for the speakers. I started putting my ear to the speakers & noticed that the sound was just coming out of the tweeter cone at the top. So I swap all of the cables & tried again. Lesson learned. It was almost worth making the mistake just to feel the satisfaction of having figured it out. When i hook up the amp tonight I have enough wire to set the 804s & HTM2 up with 4 individual audio cables, so at least the front end will be using the cones as well.

The HTM61 would be the better of the center channels they offer to match the 683s

Set up my B&Ws with my amp last night. Everything went well. The only thing I'm unhappy with is the tweeter cones in the 2 towers are emitting feedback buzz. I'm not sure why they are since the center (which is connected the same way) is not.

Connected to the towers (2 red, 2 black posts) are 4 banana clips. Connected to the amp I've combined the 2 red in 1 banana clip & 2 back into 1 banana clip bc there are just 2 posts on the back of the amp for each channel.

The only thing I can think to do is run my side Left/Right from the receiver (like I am with my rear Left/Right) and then dedicate an entire channel for each tweeter. So the 5 channel amp would run: 1 tower, 1 tweeter, 2nd tower, 2nd tweeter, and center.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

New to this thread, I just finished remodeling my basement and finally got my 684S2, HTM62S2, and CCM664 in ceilings speakers up and running a few days ago. I will post some pictures soon, but I am loving the setup so far!

Any of you guys have the B&W CM10. If you do, what is your opinion on it. I have decided to start over new. Its been a long time since i upgraded to anything, plus I want to spend something nice on myself I know that there is a newer version of the cm 10 called cm10s2. There is a few local dealers around me including magnolia at best buy that sell the display model for $3200. Is that a good deal for these speakers? After reading through these forums I have came to the the conclusion by some members to pick the speakers that you like then upgrade the amplifier and other stuff and so on. I listen to music and watch movies, but leaning more towards music. Probably 60% music and 40% movies.

Have any of you guys got a chance to listen to the newer cm10? They are goin gfor the same price as the original cm10 new for $4k a pair. Should I wait?

I use a PS Audio Power Plant, which helps eliminate ground loops and other noise associated with power, and generally helps lower the noise floor (which is the audio equivalent of black level).

Also you're confusing me by saying your speakers are Nautilus 804D and Nautilus 805D. B&W stopped making the Nautilus 800 line about 10 yrs ago and replaced them with the 800 Diamond line. Your speakers are either Nautilus or D but can't be both I'm afraid.

Guess what guys. I finally made the jump and went ahead and bought the B&W cm10. I got a good deal on them so I just decided to buy it. Its not the diamonds but its a lot for me. I got a chance to see and test out the 801d 802d and 803d and 804d. The 801d is huge! Next step is to get a better amplifier. I'm so excited now like a little kid at the candy store.

Hey guys! Looking to buy some smaller speakers as I've moved into a small apartment/room. I went to a store and listened to the 686 s2 speakers and was blown away! Sounded much better than my current speakers as the detail and clarity was much better. How do the DM686 compare to the s2's? They are a cheaper but look good too, but do they sound as good? I'm a bit worried that they are too small and right now I just want to go get the s2's, although I'll wait and try to sell my current speakers first. I would mostly use them for vinyl and as front speakers in a surround set-up.

Really nice setup...are you using any surround speakers? Me too ordered CM10s from magnolia, should be in in 1-2 weeks. Looking for surround speakers that goes well with it.

I'm specifically looking for four bipole speakers for the rears in a 7.1 set-up.
Cheers.

No sure why only consider bipoles? I think 805s are nice match. PM1s can also be OK choices. Although recently A/B tested 805 vs PM1, and found such big differences in SQ, just as big as the gap in the prices.

Picked up a pair of CM6S2 bookshelf speakers a week ago, and they sound absolutely phenomenal! I was hesitant going from floorstanding speakers to bookshelves, but this was a substantial upgrade. Going to soon pick up a CM S2 center channel, just haven't decided which one. Will post pics soon!
