That's awesome! Good for you! Maybe Sony will soon release an update for my 570. It's been almost two years since the last update for my player, though, so I'm not holding my breath. Was it notated in the release notes to 'correct' playback issues with Dolby TrueHD? Or was in a generic release note description?

Glad it's working for you regardless.

Maybe, in time, all Sony Blu Ray players will be able to play Sony discs!

don't expect it. Sony gives up updating their players real fast. except for the ps3 of course. my 370 wasn't updated for YEARS before I took it back to costco for a new player

Will this play without issue on a PS3 with the latest firmware?

I have the first PS3 slim model and haven't had any audio issues, but it also depends on the receiver. I have it set to bitstream audio to a yamaha receiver that I bought last year.

Installing the new firmware on my s790, unfortunately I'm just heading out so I can't test it until tomorrow. I will check back with results, crossing my fingers.

I believe the first time for me is the scene during the first drop. The sound cuts out and the picture freezes. It does this periodically throughout the movie.

Great news, no dropouts post firmware updates.

Did you play the movie from the start or did you skip straight to the scenes where the dropouts originally occurred? The reason I ask is because I have downloaded the same firmware update for the Sony BDP-S790 and I played both the theatrical cut & the extended version and the issues are still there! I should say though that it's an improvement, the theatrical cut doesn't seem to be as bad as the extended cut, but in both versions of the film, there's still a slight dropout where Quaid (or Hauser if you prefer) swipes his card in the door of his apartment then all of a sudden, especially in the extended cut, the lip sync is out of whack! If you skip back to replay the scene the problem disappears but playing it right through from start to finish, the dropouts and delay are still there though not quite as bad as before...
