Criterion is too expensive everywhere in Canada.
This is why I usually wait for the year end B&N sale.

You will have to wait for the CAD to USD to be a lot higher as well to beat Zeus prices and when Amazon has a weak Criterion.

Yeah...last November was the first time I passed on the B&N sale due to our low dollar

Some Sunrise Records locations have been revealed. The rest to be revealed March 20.

it seem very risky to open 70 new stores, just because vinyl is making a small come back. There's also no mention of increasing video inventory.

Glad to see that they mentioned their commitment to home video.

Oh, wait a minute...

They made NO mention of home video.

50% expansion of CDs, more vinyl, apparel, plush figures. Hmmm, I wonder where they will find all of that room? Unfortunately, I can guess.

Well, at least it will be a place to browse for...whatever.

Sunrise is opening two locations in NE Calgary (probably cheap leases, as Sunridge and Marlborough Malls aren't exactly known as "destination" malls like Chinook Centre). If they're not going to offer any Blu-rays, I won't frequent either store--I buy my vinyl from local shops. It sounds like Sunrise will be like HMV, albeit with more vinyl and no movies.

Got some great deals at HMV yesterday, picked up Bourne Identity, Supremecy, Ultimatum, Superman The Movie and Superman 2: The Richard Donner Cut for $5 each. Thinking about going back during the next price drop to pick up some newer release titles

Nice but I think you would of been better off the Superman Anthology the few times it was on sale, better encodes, lossless audio, instead of lossy, the theatrical S2 plus the other sequels.

So sad that my HMV here in Kelowna shut down last Sunday. I went there and they ran outta Criterion/Kino/Shout. Sunrise Records is going to replace this and what i am hearing (More Music, Less Movies) is really terrible. I don't want to buy DVDs online, I don't even have a Credit Card. Such a disappointment!

Without a CC it is hard to order online, BB is the only one with BDs that supports Paypal that I know of. You can get amazon giftcards in stores however.

Well I went into a Hmv today and they had a ton of dvds. Not sure what that has to do with not having a CC.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what HMV is going to do with unsold DVDs and Blu-Rays? Do they throw them away? Is another company going to buy then up for cents?

I know some stores have been shipping their stuff off to different stores. What happens after all HMV stores close, who knows. I wonder if manufacturers will take back their stuff. But I believe they might end up at an warehouse auction to be honest.
