EMP and Home Theater Direct (HTD) are two factory-direct speaker manufacturers. Their speakers are very good and would cost a lot more if they were sold through retailers. The speakers come in red or black. The EMP red burl speakers look gorgeous. EMP does not charge for shipping, but HTD does. HTD speakers have ribbon tweeters.
EMP Front Tower Speakers, $799 a Pair: http://www.emptek.com/e55ti.php EMP Center Channel Speaker, $450: http://www.emptek.com/e56ci.php EMP Bipolar Surround Speakers, $499 a Pair: http://www.emptek.com/e55wi.php HTD Level 3 Front Tower Speakers, $799 a Pair: http://www.htd.com/Products/level-th...Tower-Speakers HTD Level 3 Center Speaker, $199: http://www.htd.com/Products/level-th...hannel-Speaker HTD Bipolar Surround Speakers, $399 a Pair: http://www.htd.com/Products/level-th...REE-Surround_2 Another excellent factory-direct speaker company is Axiom: http://www.axiomaudio.com/ You can build your own system from Martin Logan, PSB, or Monitor Audio speakers. The center channel has to be from the same line as the front speakers, but the surround channel speakers can be from another company. http://www.audioadvisor.com/products...&view_all=true If you want to go high-end at a reasonable price, buy a pair of Focal Chorus 826V towers for $2,699 and a Focal Chorus CC 800V center speaker for $699. Alternatively, you can buy a pair of Focal Chorus 816 V tower speakers for $2,199 and the same center speaker. As for surround speakers, you can buy a pair of bipolar surround speakers from any other company below $500.
