If you're not adverse to waiting a little longer on shipping, you can pick up the UK set for around $43 right now from Amazon.co.uk. It's region free and has exactly the same video content.

Agreed! The two disc per spindle stinks. I pulled off the 3D disc and the regular BD disc under it seemed to stick to the 3D version. Very weird. It's also a good way to scratch a disc. I paid big bucks for Frankenweenie at BB and no lenticular cover (that's OK...touching lenticular surfaces is like nails on a blackboard to me). I paid a ridiculous $34.99 because I had Reward Zone certificates to use BUT I have 60 days to price match.

Love the 3D trailer of Oz The Great And Powerful. Can't wait for that one.
Oz The Great and Powerful looks great. I bought this blind w/o checking here or at the Real or Fake 3D forum. I always check (until now). I try not to buy converted 3D movies with Titanic being the exception. The Avengers and now Frankenweenie but I prefer true 3D. I only made it through half of Frankenweenie. It's freakin' depressing!

Just finished watching this...and I love it....it's a great Burton stop-motion feature film.....Burton just has a "left field" vision that is so cool....and to film a modern day movie in Black and White was surely brave.

The 3D (in my opinion) is actually some of the best out there - great depth and the odd and well placed pop-out moments show that Burton knows how he wants to portrait the story to the viewer.....the picture is clean and extremely detailed. One small drawback I noticed was a few moments where the action seemed to lose it's fliud motion - but sometimes I just found myself gob-smacked by the realism of the world the movie was set in.

Will it become a Burton Classic, I dont know....it possibly doesnt have the same appeal as The Nightmare Before Christmas. Although there is already a fair whack of Frankenweenie memorablilia available around the place.

Now the challenge for you all.....how many of the characters in Frankenweenie have features from Burtons previous "stop-motion movies"? Take a look you'll see a few familiar features in some of the characters

Now...lets hope that Burton can bring us another slice of great stop-motion vision for his next movie...

I recommend!

Default Price fixing?

Granted, I paid too much for Frankenweenie 3D at Best Buy ($34.99) but now checking for price match, Amazon.com isn't selling it directly and other sellers are as high or higher and Walmart has it for $44.98! Come on-it's not 2011 when 3D BDs were even sold near list. I recently got Prometheus 3D for $14.99. THAT WAS A DEAL.

Retailing is all about games and weekly price changing. Recently got a Sony digital camera at $399.99 and over the course of my allowed 6 weeks to price match at BB, I finally got it for $289.99. Now it's $379.99. Apparently the prices reflect Sony's price at their web site and BD discounts are dictated by manufacturer/distributor?

I liked it. Considering it was converted in post, 3D looks pretty good, too.

Here you go (it was on page 2): http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=212366&page=2

Here was my opinion:

My wife and I both thought this was a good movie, funny, cute - good for kids and adults. I thought the 3D was done well, a good conversion for sure. I had no shadowy crosstalk at all and I thought there was great depth, you could tell that 3D was kept in mind when the angles of the film were arranged. This is another prime example that just because a movie is dark does not mean you'll have crosstalk - we had none, it was a very clean picture.

Overall we're very happy to add this to our collection, we will definitely watch it again and I do recommend the film to anyone on the fence about it.

Got my copy from Zavvi yesterday. I had been waiting for a price drop and 14.99 was a good price. Will hopefully watch it tonight, although i stuck the disc in for a quick spin and the 3D looks amazing. The PQ in general was first rate. Looking forward to watching the whole movie!

black and white will always look better in 3D than colour, much sharper as well.

I have to say I usually loathe Tim Burton's stop motion films, but I really enjoyed this one and the 3D was excellent

Yarp.

Same here, loved this flick - I thought the characters were hilarious, and the 3D was presented very well.
