Default Do all 4k players play 50i (25fps) content?

Iím interested in importing a TV show on blu-ray. The discs are 50i (25 fps) and have English SDH subtitles. Sorry I have no idea what this is. Will my LG OLED and UP970 play this with no problems?

What about the new Philips 4k player? I wonder if this is what a member was referring to when he said the Sony 800 does not support this.

Thanks

Som players play 50i content unconverted while others convert them to the input your feeding to the TV, u need to look at ur TVs manual and the players as well. If ur 4k does have 25p/50i/p listing in its specifications then any player wont have problems displaying an PAL 1080i 50 image. But if the TVs specs only show 480i/p 720p 1080i60 1080p24/30/60 and 2160P24/30/60 but not PAL or 1080i50i then u need a player that can convert that content to something into the former specs that TV can handle.

My LG UHD (LED) set does not display PAL/50Hz material, but maybe your OLED model might be different if you're lucky. I doubt it but you never know. If it doesn't support PAL/50Hz, then you need a player that can convert the PAL/50Hz signals to 60Hz (the US standard). Unfortunately what I've been discovering is most players don't do that conversion. Some players won't play PAL at all (like Panasonic), and some only output it in PAL, not convert. You may end up needing to go with a region-modded player to get one that can do the conversion. I don't know about the Philips player - check the manual and see if there's any mention of converting in there.

I can tell you the Sony X800 does not. I tried it with Caprica and it goes right back to the main player menu.

I watch movies on a LG C6 and a Sony X800.

I have played PAL 576i 50hz special feature content from a blu ray on my Panasonic UB900 with no problems.

The SPECS for my LG TV (75UH8500) say that it only supports 60hz, but it definitely DOES display a 50hz signal through its HDMI inputs. It will also display PAL sources through its component inputs, but NOT the standard video input (it comes out scrambled, as it would on an analog NTSC display. I can get around this though by connecting stuff like my PAL laserdisc player to my receiver, which then outputs that via HDMI.)

As I mentioned in the Oppo thread, the problem with this is that the TV is "telling" sources that it prefers 60hz, so with that player set to "auto" it will convert 50hz to 60hz. Manually setting it to 50hz will output that properly, but I must then set it back to Auto for other material or else it will convert THAT to 50hz which also doesn't look good. Oppo is supposedly working on a setting to get around that.

There's tons of misinformation on this subject, sometimes the only way to know for sure is to just try it yourself.

Does Sony's UBP-X800 play 50i discs?
Does the Samsung UBD-MK500 & UBD-M9500?
Does XBox One?
