He's posted another video, but then goes private. What gives?

Default VT60 reflections

Hi Everyone,

I recently joined this forum after being a frequent guest to get advice

I saw in this thread a topic on the VT reflectiveness so wanted some more insight.

I just picked up a 65VT60 on Sunday, and first off...WOW great picture. I ended up going with the VT vs the ZT since the price difference was 1000 bucks and picture quality was near identical. And really the harder part would be convincing the wife to spend the extra 1000.

The one beef I have now though is the amount of reflection I get from the TV during the daytime. I read on CNET that using a VT or ZT for daytime viewing is really not what it is meant for and an LED would be better suited for that. So I do do most viewing in the evening and I knew the ZT had the better panel but didn't know how much better or if it was worth it since most rank them near identical. Plus I won't have them side by side to compare

I am considering returning it for a ZT but if even with the ZT it doesn't make much of a difference I'll just get some curtains.

The TV is 12ft away from the sofa and behind the sofa are 3 large windows that aim directly to the screen. So apart from moving the TV, I'm not sure if a ZT would make much difference. Closing the shutters helps but I still get light leakage through the slits on the shutters. I'm pretty sure even with the ZT I would get it (due to the type of light and TV placement) but I don't know how much better the panel is.

Here is an example of what I am referring to.

Just looking for others opinions/experience/suggestions. Really to help calm my nerves if I made a mistake.

Apart from the reflections from the windows, this TV is superb.

Thanks everyone
Mike

The sets actually have the same basic panel and circuitry. What you pay the extra money for with the ZT is the light filtering. If you are happy with the quality of the set otherwise, the ZT might be worth the extra cost. It certainly was for me. I have a couch with a very light color and could clearly see it during daytime viewing with my previous TV. With the ZT I can only see a hint of a reflection when the screen is nearly black. Now, if you have a window directly behind you you will still see it reflection because the brightness can be two orders of magnitude higher than the room's ambient light, but you shouldn't have trouble in less extreme situations.
