It's kinda hard for me to imagine The Avengers movie without Black Widow in it. I agree it was a good call.

I would want Wasp in Avengers w/out some sort of earlier appearence. Widow was fine.

Capt. America wasnt on the first squad, so historical accuracy isnt needed
And w/ Pym being 70(M.douglass age), how old would Janet be if they did showhorn her in.

It's rather obvious Evangeline Lilly's character in Ant-Man will be the MCU Wasp.

Of the main Avengers right now I would comfortably say that only The Hulk and maybe Captain America had any kind of household recognition.

I don't think it would be reasonable at all to think that joe-shmo movie watcher knew anything about Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, or Thor before Marvel Studios started shoving them down our throats.
A little late at replying, but this exactly. I think the only Marvel heroes I really knew of before the comic books movie started taking off in the 00s were Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Wolverine... I vaguely knew of Captain America, and kinda knew what a couple of the other X-Men looked like. And that's it.

So as long as Marvel are able to create likeable and popular personas out of the so-called B-level (or C-level or D-level) characters, I don't think the public will have any trouble latching onto them so long as the audience continues to have goodwill towards Marvel Studios and the MCU.

I don't think the MCU/The Avengers blew up in the way that it did because of the prior recognition that those characters had, but it's rather because of the carefully crafted universe and world-building that they started with the Iron Man movie in 2008 (and that first film being such a huge hit definitely helped a lot).

It's also worth remembering that outside of the films and the cartoons Marvel also now has multiple live-action television shows set in the MCU to introduce the public to characters. They're already doing this, by using Agents of SHIELD to set up Inhumans, a film that doesn't come out for another 4 years.

Before the end of Phase III how many other series on network television, netflix, or something not yet thought of, will they have?

Marvel forever thx

I hate to say it, because there's been alot of people who have said it already... but, I'm glad the 2nd season of Agents of Shield has gotten better. The first half of the 1st season was only "meh" to me, wasn't terrible, but wasn't great, then the 2nd half recovered the season to me. Hoping for it to get better and better as seasons go on, and as more and more movies are released.

If they want the TV shows to introduce mainstream viewers to stuff for the movies to continue with they're going to need those shows to be a LOT better and have a LOT higher ratings.

As it is now there's no way those shows are popular enough to connect strongly to the films.

If anybody was still interested in getting this set, I'm looking to trade mine for the individual releases. Like New condition, basically mint--only watched the movies once, all the extra goodies included

I wonder why Disc 2 for Iron Man and Iron Man 2 were excluded from this set. It isn't really a complete Phase 1 set without them.
"I hope you're happy now, Jacob."

Lol agreed, Daredevil was amazing will become the Blu day 1.
Escape From New York Scream Factory
It improves upon the A/V quality of the previous MGM Blu-ray, preserves the best of the 2003 DVD extras, and adds great new material too. Donít miss it!
