Don't worry about price. If you don't have to have it right away you'll definitely be able to get it in the $50 or under range some time in the future. That just the way it is with these season box sets. The more popular shows hold their value a little longer but they all drop eventually.

If you're able to, check out the "HD" versions on Netflix. Not remotely the same quality as the treatment That 70s Show received. The only positive thing I can say about it is it is bright and colorful.

Yeah, I've seen those and... yeah. A lot of Netflix "HD" that I watch (or, most of the time, just have on in the background) is a joke. That said, the DVDs that I own of the show are pretty poor too. I'm cautiously optimistic that a proper blu-ray release would be a big improvement, at least compared to the two existing sources.

On a side note, I remember that Mill Creek was also re-mastering the Cosby Show into HD as well. I wonder how that investment will pay off...

Good news that they are releasing it. I already have the first two seasons on BD, but that's okay. I was recently considering getting the complete series DVD set, figuring they would never release more of the series on BD. I'm glad I didn't do that yet.

I'll wait for the right price. It is Mill Creek, after all, so it shouldn't take too long.

I think the German one is 16 discs - how is the quality there? Anyone know?
Most Big Bang Theory, if not all (I can't remember), seasons are released on 2 discs in 16:9 with DTS-HD Master audio. Most discs have 11-12 episodes of 20-22 minutes, which should be similar to what we'll get with this release of Mill Creek. The AV quality is perfectly fine for me. Don't forget that there isn't much action / complex scenes to encode in those TV shows. It should be handled perfectly fine by H.264 with lower than average bitrates.

I'm happy to see this release.

I got an email from Lyle Goff at Mill Creek with the announcement of the complete series. I assume he sent that to everyone who expressed interest in more That '70s Show releases lol but it was still cool nonetheless... in case I wasn't a member on this site or anything. :P
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

And I really thought this would have subtitles, what the hell?!

They are doing two disc seasons (up to 14 episodes per disc), and two discs for bonus content. While quite disappointing, the disc loading isn't really surprising, as this will most likely be cheap as shit on release day. And they were obviously not able to generate enough profit off of the four disc releases with their low price tags.

Here's how the episodes are going to be distributed over the discs.

I'm not worried about PQ, as someone else has mentioned that Big Bang is handled similarly. So I'm sure this will be fine as well.

I'm just glad we are getting the complete series finally!

If you think Mill Creek is going to put out a product comparable to Warner when it comes to compression, you're crazy. None of the rest of the major studios (Sony, Universal, Fox, & Disney) even attempt it.

The comparison between the two shows also needs to stop because they are not identical scenarios. The run time difference in the episodes (18 - 20 versus 22 - 23) adds up to at least an additional full episode worth of compression lost over the course of a disc, and without compensating for the the longer seasons of That '70s Show, you're losing another episode or two per disc on average. Basically, for That '70s Show to match BBT, in terms of compression, it would have to be 10 - 11 episodes per disc, instead of 12 - 14. And that's only not a bad thing if they can be as competent as Warner, which would be a feat in and of itself.

They were 50gb discs, but the fourth discs were never full.

Yeah, I'm curious about that, and Roseanne, as well. From what I understand, both were done on video. I will share in your optimism.
