Also, as has been mentioned, Beatty hates special features - he had to have his arm twisted for the doc on the Reds disc, and even then it was only because he thinks it's his most notable film, as a director.

Well, the Academy certainly agrees with him on that.

The AICN article is 14 years (Oct 2001) old. The Collider and bleedingcool ones are from 2011. I think those qualify as old news. Below is a link to an article from last June regrading Dick Tracy. Until an official announcement of development and/or pre-production is made everything else is speculation.

Why Dick Tracy 2 Never Happened

Didn't Warren Beatty do a Dick Tracy special so he could retain the film rights? Not saying Disney/Buena Vista would need to release that, but it's an interesting topic.

EDIT: Never mind, found it.

I am guessing that the release listed for yesterday is just a re-release of the original release?

yes, I think it comes with a HD digital code.
Stop the Replacing of original Studio Opening / Closing logos! These are becoming endangered and should be kept intact. They are part of film history.

From the looks of it, the new release is simply a reissue with a UV code. I still have the previous release. Assuming the two are identical, I'd say read the review. For me at least, I find that I agree with it. Also, I find that the artwork looks much better on Blu than it did on DVD. The only trouble is the complete lack of special features. With all the hype that the film got when it was released, you'd think that they would have been able to at least come up with a vintage piece or two.

Somewhere in my archives, I have - recorded from TV at the time - a 30 minute look at the movie. As far as I know, it hasn't been put on YouTube, and is a really good look at the production. This is the kind of thing it wouldn't cost Disney much to throw in as an extra, although the Mouse has big pockets but rather short arms.

If King Louie was in charge of Disney finances, you'd have it made.

It is not a UV code, Disney doesn't do that.

In this case, the higher priced one was the initial pressing: Blu-ray with digital copy. The digital copy was housed on a seperate disc and works for iTunes or Windows Media only.

The lower priced edition drops the digital copy disc & code. It is just Blu-ray only.
